i couldnt find a more relevent section to put this in, but i need to use a few pc's at the same time that are all connected to the internet and all doing tasks, can i use just one pc to monitor what all of them are doing ?
i need to use the keyboard and mouse as well as the monitor for all the hard drives, but is there a way to just use one monitor (and one keyboard and one mouse) for all hard drives and monitor what each one is doing and change etc what they are doing (by using the one mouse and one keyboard)

    thanks

    hello
thanks for that, ive found a few on ebay, but they dont have many ports, but why do you say "they usually cost more than they're worth"

as i was looking to buy one.

    thanks

I just meant that they cost more than I think they should. Maybe they're cheaper than they used to be. I dunno.

Check out VNC before you buy anything. It's free and it's good. I used to run 2 office PCs using it - a few clicks and I was immediately using my other computer. Plus you can see both computers on the same monitor (windowed) if you need to.

thanks again, i will take a look at that software, it looks like the same sort of thing that pc support desks use when they acces your pc to find out whats wrong with it.

about the kvm, i thought you meant there are problems with them.

    thanks

Yeah it pretty much is the same thing. Except you'd be controlling a 'remote' computer that's right next to you :)

XP host, running a Mac box, and a Vista box :

thanks, i had a look at that, but it says you can only have it connected to one other pc on the free version.
and the paid version was hundreds of euros.

    but thanks very much anyway.
