Hi Everyone I have a website (SpaceSimCentral.com) that I started this past Dec. I have been building content in the forums and I am doing ok in the SEO department (or least i think so). I get on avg 15-30k hits a month which isn't bad. I have a PR2. I didn't create the site to make money. I just want to get more people talking in the forums. I get a member maybe every 1-2 days. And without spending a lot of money is there ways to get the site noticed quicker? Right now I just join other communities of like interests and just use my signature. I do no spamming at all. I have traded links with a few websites that are like mind but that is it. Are directory listings worth my time? I have a auto forwarder that sends all posts to twitter. I'm just trying to get a bit more knowledgeable about marketing a website to specific audience. Thanks for any tips. -D1-

goto the actual sim forums and post there. you'll probably get banned for it, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
a good way to get a boost that keeps on giving is banner exchange networks i have tried quite a few and im down to 3 that have worked very well for me. Im already averaging 100 unique visitors per day and the site is only 2 weeks old. you can find my site in my sig and see which ones im using or you can PM me and ill give you the links. Hopes this helps.
I would say buy a couple of backlinks from high pagerank sites, and get top Google serps, that can help you get lots of visitors and in that way, you can even make more money with ads.
Now backlinks they should only be from sites with relevant content correct? Because I thought links from say a financial site does nothing for your rank or standing with google... I'm going to look into those banner exchanges because I certainly don't mind doing that as long as the banners are clean Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Never thought how difficult it would actually be to move traffic to a website without spending money on advertising and not be accused of spamming.
FYI every successful gaming site is part of the banner exchange network it works great because its free and because its targeted audience the people that come to your website from there websites are game players i can tell you i am having a great experience with them so good that i joined coupe of other ones. 1 good input that i can give is try them all and see which ones work best for your site i have joined over 10 so far and i only kept 5 so you will have to see which one work best for you. Also if you would like you can join the new group i started Gaming Webmaster 101 I'm going to try to get a good amount of gaming webmasters to help each other out. Hope this helps

I know from my last posting I have seen some increases in traffic and I am usually either on page 1 or 2 of google for the most of my keywords. Currently averaging 20-40k visits a month and my adsense went from under a dollar per month to $4-5 a month. I might actually be getting the hang of this.
