I was thinking about buying a macbook, but I'm not sure if that's such a good idea for a website owner and developer. I'm not sure if I can set up a wamp server there etc. Any suggestions?
WAMP is for Windows. For Mac, you use MAMP. You can download it here : http://www.mamp.info/en/downloads/index.html. Or you can use XAMPP : http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-macosx.html - Dynashox -
It depends on how you're travelling, where you're going, and what else you're taking. I've been using a netbook for a few months now, and I'll never go back to carrying a full size laptop.
I think 17 inch is too big for travelling better use 13 or 15 inch. If you need bigger space for your works, you can add any brand monitor to the macbook using mini-DVI to DVI cable
I never knew they had MAMP lol. I always thought the 3 were LAMP WAMP AND XAMP. Learned something today, thanks =) Mac's are for style foremost. At least most people that buy mac's have that in mind. But they are very good still since they are built off of *NIX. Apple also offers a bunch of software that is very useful. If you do go ahead with purchasing a mac, you might want to search for 'macheist' its a site and a way to get free apple software, or at least huge discounts on them.
