Help everyone! Pakistan is having 15 hours of power outages daily. Let's just hope that it would be solved soon. The government should do something about this fast. Let the world know this. Thanks! http://tinyurlfor.me/1123/

He is just calling out his own government for not doing the job. Maybe he is not satisfied with the notion that 3rd world countries need to have constant blackouts. Maybe instead of bitching about someone else's country he is complaining about the failings of his own. I respect that. Laying out your grievances against your own government is a beautiful thing.

More than likely, this is probably Bush's fault.

You better hope the taliban doesn't take control of pakistan. They may ban electricity and soap altogether. But oddly enough, they'll probably keep the nukes.

Because Pakistan considers India an 'existential threat' and won't ever ask for Indian help. Pakistan has millions of troops on its eastern border with India instead of utilising them to fight the Taliban. They're actually only fighting the Taliban half heartedly because of US pressure..for the Pakistani military and intellignce Taliban and other jehadi groups are strategic assets that give them bargaining power in foreign policies.

Read this article in a Pakistani newspaper editorial for a bit of the history

[I'm giving a Pakistani source so you don't think I'm biased because I'm Indian and secondly thats one of the rare objective news organisation in that country]

Well they really need to get together, if anyone needs a close ally, the 2 of them do. If India was smart, they would team together for nothing else except for their own preservation. If the Taliban decide to start crossing the border into India, both countries will be on their own. There is no way that the U.N. will help 2 countries simultaneously that cannot set aside differences for a common goal. It will be another quagmire

    (giggidy:))

Why do they not get along ? What possible threat could they be to each other. Both countries are seriously underdeveloped economically. Why do they continue to point nukes at each other, instead of trying to get their crap together.

I don't really understand your reason for not helping. I'm sorry, it would help if you can express your opinion in more detail.

    -Thanks

India too is a power deficient country.

The condition is much better compared to Pakistan, but still there is a need to seriously ramp up power generation to meet future demand.

India needs to add at least 50000 MW of capacity in next 3-4 years and each 1000 MW needs around $1 billion in investment.

Delhi alone consumes 4400 MW of power......

I suggest you read up on the history of the two countries before making that suggestion. India would be glad to help Pakistan and make the world a terror free place, but Pakistan doesn't want to help itself. Why? Because its notorius secret service 'ISI' (that got a lot of training from the CIA when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan) has links with jehadi organisations like the Taliban, Lashkar e Tayebba, Jaish e Mohammed etc.

Another problem is that its difficult to figure out who wields the power in Pakistan. The intelligence agency and the army are more powerful than the government and can veto its decisions. They often work independently from the democratically elected government. So while the Prime Minister of Pakistan talks something, the army has a completely different take on it.

If you don't mind and have some time, please go through this article on the Council of Foreign Relations (CFR) website:

Honestly, Pakistan has a very powerful army. Its among the top 6 biggest armies of the world. If it wants to really crush Taliban, it can do it. Didn't Sri Lanka, a small island country much weaker than Pakistan crush the LTTE a few months back?

But I guess its better to keep getting billions of Dollars of American aid money for half hearted attemps to finish your 'allies'

Interesting stuff. I may take your suggestion and look into what is really happening there. Seems like a fascinating, intertwined, calamity of confusion.
On this issue, I only know what I hear on T.V., so obviously nothing in depth, but I have always long suspected that Pakistan is not fighting with all their heart in this, which pisses me off because we are and giving life for it to keep thier country out of undesirable hands.

It seems like the house is about to crumble and they are protecting the back door in case of burglars instead of fixing the foundation.

What will they do if we leave ? Continue to protect the Indian border and let Pakistan fall from within ?

Trust me, as a pakistani born it pisses me off even more. Currently living abroad pakistan, still hoping things will calm down in Pakistan. It is true that there hasn't been a harsh decision taken by the government to eliminate the threat to pakistan, and to the world more importantly. But, pak army did launch a huge mission in the north of Pakistan to kick out all the taliban and the mission was announced a success a few weeks back. I dunno how much of that is true, but the media of pakistan is saying that the public of that area is free from taliban and happy.

Guess only time will tell, we'll just have to wait and hope for the best of pakistan.

There's still a good chance that country may not crumble if it really roots out the Taliban and the extremist Islamic ideology it has help nurtured. Else Pakistan will be swallowed by the monster it created for 'strategic depth.' And we in India will also have to bear the consequences :(

If the Americans leave I don't think Pakistan will even bother to fight the Taliban, I mean Pakistan was indirectly ruling Afghanistan when the Taiban were in power. They'd love to do it again, forgetting how unstable their own country has become. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Its good that the militans were cleared out of the SWAT valley, but Waziristan and FATA etc still have many. Lets hope Pakistan does make up its mind and get rid of the bad boys.
