Where can I get a small HTML compatible Search Box for my website, preferably one that I can customise to the size I need? I've tried the Google Adsense Search Box Engine & the free SB but they are too big. Thanks Gina
You can resize them if you need to. Post the code for the google one here and I will see what I can do
Crath, that is so sweet. I changed the width & height but it squashes it out of proportion. I need a small box to fit around 150 to max 170px wide but still looks OK. Code:
Oh so its just an iframe. Well you can just use their code and have it forward properly, or you can try to use this http://www.google.com/coop/manage/cse/create/1 I think you got that IFRAME version search from a website that uses your search traffic for their profit :\
The Google Custom Search you suggested was perfect, I can resize, add my Logo, monetize thru Adsense, best of all, index that specific page! http://www.ewhiz.biz/Free.html Correct re getgooglesearch.com, in my ignorance I thought it was a Google product but ok.. next time read the fine print. Thanks so much for your help Crath, Pos ++ Rep added!
You know, it sounds laughable, but if you want to put in a few bucks, try coffeecup web search. It's, cool and the script is easy to modify. You can modify what comes up on the searches, keywords, spider other sites, if you hack the scripit, you can change the search page, etc.
Gee thanks Rodder, I must remember to tell my friends that over our next coffeecup, as totally ignorant non-hackers we are a little wary of where we put our bucks, cu@ Starbucks!
Interesting comment, but the software is viable for someone that wants to spider sites w/o mysql and build a directory w/links, and have total control over searches , search results, and total control of keywords(can make your own) as well. Jeepers, some of us are not programmers. I guess it just depends on your goals; it just seems a little intriguing and profitable to me.
You might also want to try Atomz.com. They allow you to control when your site is crawled and allow you to customize the search page. You can also have them email your search statistics.
Great 1 tks AssistantX! + Rep added. Rodder7: Sigh......profitable?? Majority links on http://www.ewhiz.biz/Free.html are NON affiliate, when I win my 1st FREE Firefox T Shirt I will send it to you OK? This is a learning curve for me, my very 1st website! Have no fear, you ain't gonna lose no business because of me. Live & let live! What are your goals, target practice?
Target practice???Your site??? Don't worry, no need. That t-shirt needs to be 1x. Thanks! And your right about embed aff links in the search on that site. Messes up that savvy, strategic money making outcome you have going entirely. Sorry for the the suggestion.
No need to apologise Rodder7, you are forgiven. 1 x TShirt in the post... I make part time money online on via other channels, this selfmade website is just a learning curve for a bit of exposure. However, I think Freebies 4 Newbies has great value! Professionals please note, here's a free tip! It reflects the classic "career path" of newbies online, the questions they ask & what they are capable of with tools they can get for free, stuff the professionals have forgotten. In the beginning, a newbie has to be like an octopus, a tentacle in different fields, until they find something that works for them. It is only at this point they should consider forking out megabucks for a flashy website.
