Hi, I never needed or paid attention to proxy sites. Recently, I saw several for sale here at dp. I get the idea people can (supposedly) surf while hiding there real IP, and don't want to think about all the shady things they could try. Are there any 'wholesome', honest uses for a proxy site? What are they? Thanks, MGH
When I moved a site away from it's webhost they didn't drop the zones immediately so I couldn't see the new location (and check for defects) but everyone else could. While I battled the host on the phone I used a proxy to see my site and fix the problems.
I can't access my credit card online banking system from work, but I could from behind a proxy that's wholesome enough, no?
I too used a proxy to see my site after changing hosts as my ISP had not resolved to the new servers yet.
If the server is set to log any action of proxy user (and it depend only from administrator.Do not forget) then administrator have your CC or any other confidential information that you typed through proxy. Before using check privacy policy if they have and let op of you can find there something about logging or not.If not then never use it for CC, log into bank of whatever.
Some sites block Israeli IP ranges as a whole, just because some specific bad experiences they probably had. I didn't do anything wrong and I want to access the sites - So I sometimes use proxy to bypass these dumb, humiliating blocks. Nothing wrong with that, am I right?
yeh, im in china and some DNS block chinese address, including my own sites! so sometimes i need to check them on proxy's.
