when your computer boots up press F5 or F8 (not sure which one is correct). ON pressing you would see a new text menu. choose 'safe mode'.
If it boots ok then just restore
    try it

Restart your computer and keep pressing F8, you will get a menu, select 'Safe Mode' from it your computer would turn on but without any drivers (display, sound etc...), not manually restart your computer and it should work fine. This thing works for me most of the times.

If it doesn't work select Restore from the menu which you get by pressing F8 while booting. That would definetely work.

What beeps are you getting from your BIOS when you boot the computer? Normal beep or does it sound different from usual?

Hmm, it could be an overheating problem. How much fans are in your computer?

Could be overheating but I'd reckon on a driver or software issue myself, however, when you get a problem like freezing at boot-up, you have to start at the beginning and work through the various possibilities.

I'll add that when you do get back into 'Safe Mode' is hit start, run and type msconfig - hit ok and go into the 'Start-up' tab and remove anything that has a check mark against it then click Apply & OK now restart Windows.

Does it boot ok after this? Do not reinstall Windows until you try stopping the startup items.

ooo i wouldn't reinstall xp yet... Safemode is a good bet, and you can enter into it before the xp screen...

I wouldn't think it's because it's overheating because if it keeps stopping at the same point, then usually overheating is not a factor (b/c all the cpu's I've had that overheat seem to stop randomly)...

Well i guess i'll just wait for his responces to keep helping :)

You can choose to activate it later, but you have to activate it within 30 days of installation.
