So it is ok to leave your computer on if the room temperature is not too hot? Well I do leave my computer on at night when I am downloading stuffs. These days I leave it one regularly. I think currently my computer has been on for around 3 days completely. Is it safe? becuase I notice my computer becoming slower.
I always turn mine off or let it hibernate. Try it for a month and look at your electricity bill. Quite suprising.
I always leave the computers on at night. I run the Windows update and I scan the computers for viruses every night. One of my computers is 3 years old and I haven't it turned off since I bought it. I do reboot from time to time because it helps refresh things but apart from that it's always on.
I almost never turn off my computer. My computer is a couple of years old now but runs just as smoothly as when I first bought it. My room used to get really hot during the summer but I've purchased an ac system that actually points in the direction of my computer, so I don't worry about my computer overheating now.
I don't see the problem with leaving it on all the time, as long as it isn't clogged full of dust and has proper air flow then the only downside would be the waste of electricity. If you do not need your computer to run at night for scans etc, then why not just have it sleep or hibernate. Wakeup time is minimal compared to booting, and you might save a few $ too.
I used to never shut down my computer, last year that changed. It was really hot, went to the beach for the day. Came back and my motherboard over heated. Since then I got a better computer, popped both side panels off and keep it as cool as possible. After that I also started using portable hard drives for anything important.
turning it on and off every day is a lot of wear and tear. i prefer sleep over hibernating, the difference in power is minimal over a few days and it loads much faster
well, i use my PC almost 16 hours a day, but i think i should give some rest so that it doesn't get over heated...
my Desktop runs 24*7 !!! it never have had any problem but my crappy Acer laptop start giving problem just by running 3*24*7 !!! missing my desktop
I have 3 computers and all 3 run 24/7. The only time I shut one down is to clean the dust out of it. You should keep them clean / dust free so they ventilate well and stay cool.
