You should invest some money in some SEO/link building services as well, supplying you haven't already, hopefully you'll get some high ranking keywords, this will increase your traffic as well, although of course using adwords will increase your traffic, but I suggest some SEO/Link Building as well in order to maximize your traffic.

I've talked to this guy on MSN and that's basically what it comes down to.

His boss gave him $5000 to do marketing (he is originally just a webdesigner), which he probably accepted even though he knows zilch about what he's trying to do with it (he didn't even know WHICH KEYWORDS to use, he didn't know what meta tags/H1's are...) and then he asked me to teach him SEO at 06:00 in the morning over an MSN conversation.

    Right...

This guy needs to hire a professional SEO company. Whatever he does, he should NOT be spending that $5000 by himself. It will disappear into thin air without any return, with a pissed off boss as result.

SEO might be "easy" once people get the hang of it, but there's still a significant learning/experience curve before someone can honestly give themselves the title of internet marketer.

It is not learnt at 06:00 in the morning through a quick MSN chat, that's for sure!

Spend some moeny for promoting your site via article submissions, directory submissions, yahoo answers submissions, press release submissions , forum posting etc. Because they will drive traffic for life. But adwords only one time.

If I was you, I would spend a decent amount of money on SEO to help you rank high for large gaming keywords - That will get you constant, targetted traffic.

Then, spend some of the money on advertisements on other popular gaming websites - I'm sure a lot of them will sell advertisements. Make sure this is on popular gaming sites though.

Finally, spend the rest of the money on Google Adwords. This will hopefully get you a lot of visitors who keep coming back after you've purchased.

That being said though, it is important to have a great quality website too. Maybe you could spend some money developing the website too. It's your decision.

I hope these tips help :)

    @Qadsi
SEO companies that will do it in your budget, not too many great ones. Got to my site and look around, we have a proven track record. I can send you references that are verifiable. http://www.highrankingseo.net

    -PPC
I can't really help you with PPC, I wouldn't feel comfortable with a budget over 500 a month. Not enough PPC expierence to get you the highest ROI for your campaign.

    Hi,

I think spending $5000 is more than enough. I think you should divide the money up and use it in Yahoo Search Marketing, Microsoft Ad center, Facebook etc.

    HI Qadsi
you understand that one of the largest problems to overcome is learning about good ideas
you should promote your site through hub pages
and focus on Quality rather than Quantity

With $5,000 you should be able to kick start your site pretty good. With that kind of money I suggest buying ads on high traffic sites, such as Yahoo or MSN. They might be expensive, but your gonna skyrocket your traffic right off the bat.

I think that you need is back link, back link will keep your blog a live for long time. Google adword is depend on your money.. no money no visitor. If you have good back link I am sure you will get a good visitor too.. I have proved it.. I am not sure your money will be back. You spend $5000, and I am not sure you will get back more than $5,000.
