How to market a social network

I am trying to build a social network please give me advice on marketing it . I can't afford PPC right now bt will definately do it when the right time comes . Please suggest other methods to make it popular.

Firstly you should build a Unique Social network not just get the scripts and build it . Do forum posting on Entertaitment forums then you might get traffic

You can buy some CPM ads at adbrite.
Other than that,you can spread the word by posting your new site at twitter.

 

Try buying the ads on MySpace. Don't know if they'd let you. DO it $20 at a time.

 

Your network doesn't seem to have anything unique; if you don't make anything unique in it (except 'no losers (1 o...) allowed') it won't get much traction; there are many networks for 'winners' (in the business sense) which are actually *giving* their members money like http://viralnetworks.com => considering you have not unique and are not giving money it will be very hard to do anything worth while ; even the best marketing will have trouble getting it popular I would think.

 

Social networks are hard - it really is true that existing users bring more users but it leaves the question how to get the first users.

Add some good unique content to the site. Your users aren't going to keep coming back to an empty site that offers nothing. Even if you have to make fake users do so - but make sure your fake users are adding items worth reading or offering advice that makes sense. In other words that their not just pretty faces on a blank profile page!

On new social networks you really gotta be giving users something to do - something to keep them entertained. Thats means blogs, forums, pictures, videos, music, polls and links to cool or useful sites. Which means you're gonna be doing all that at the start!

social network for winners n domain name is theworldwinner ,which is started ranking for "the world winner" . The main Idea of the website is giving blogs like username.theworldwinner.com and making blogs of sports star n famous personality . Like Hitlor.theworldwinner.com or maybe obama.theworldwinner.com and get natural traffic and viral traffic too.

Dunno whether I am right or not but I just tried it out of curosity. And If I fail then also I don't have problem but I want to give it a try. As I am student so can't afford to go for CPC ads.

 

I ll try to think on this line . As I am a sports fan so maybe I will try to develop it as a gaming network if nothing goes by.

 

Try to do maintain forum,discuss there about your site.

 

It's easier to narrow to certain niche market , put really good content in it , and build community from zero with the aid of some PPC ads. , You also need to join in bigger social network and introduce yours , goodluck.

 

Thanks for the advice , getting some traffic and members are increasing hopefully will get more people in the near the near future
