Absolutely brother. All men are created equal... remember... We're friends, brothers, equals... from one tribe -- Home Sapiens. Our DNA is 99.99% similar, and we come from a common ancestor who lived in Africa. (Maybe Eve lived in Africa, but I'm not sure...)
As far I'm concern, religions are ideologies and it's, from my point of view, bad to kill in that name. I have to disagree however, if it's from a value judgment, which is probably easier from an atheist point of view.
how about if the ideology is something wonderful like human rights or freedom. just trying to draw a line . really does not have anything to do with this thread but i am curious on where people draw this line.
You won't want to kill for human rights and/or freedom, unless the judgment values have been altered, as a state of war to give an example, where rules change, obviously and unfortunately, or for a little girl rapist and murderer who is behind bars for the rest of his life, to give another one. Fighting for an ideology is one thing, killing for it is another...
how about when you want to have a revolution. when you want to remove a govt that you don't feel it represent you or when your country is occupied by a foreign force.
In a democratic country, the "revoluyion" can take place in vote place. A revolution as we see it, happens in countries "at risk". Still, I believe there is no need to kill, but you will have to defend yourself if needed, and therefore, can included killing at worst. A occupied country is most likely under an act of war, where, again, and unfortunately, rules change...
what about in a dictatorial country? do people have the moral right to take up arms and kill and use violence trying to remove the dictator and get a govt representative of them and their values? by the way i would prefer a different word rather than "at risk". maybe "with hope".
