why did you choose the programming language(s)you currently use?

    You're correct. I'm in my third year of College (in England), and the only desktop language we use is VB6...

    In Web, we use ASP.net or PHP (students choice).

    They let you choose? That's surprising to me. Seems like it;s the professors who are the biggest OS diehards out there.

    Well there is a couple of us that know PHP better and as the blade server we use has PHP installed, they allow us to use it. ASP is just on the curriculum to teach not to test.

    I currently use a lot of java. It was a good choice for me because I come from a c, x-windows background. I also like the fact-- it is not open source.

    I am not much of a programmer but all my websites are in php. I prefer it over other languages because it is free, widely accepted and I know a bit of php myself.
