I am currently working on my site http://www.bailbondslosangeles.org in which I have been building back links for. I was wondering is there such a thing called building to many back links?
When my sites have got a lot of back links in a short amount of time they disappear from Google for a while but eventually they return to the SERPs with better ranks. As long as the site is not pure spam I don't think there is any permanent harm.
^ Which probably will not happen. Do your link building naturally. Spreading the word about your website when and where possible is not going to get your website thrown from Google Searches.
Agreed but with some SEO folks out there, they may do it. Have to check the records but I seem to recall a site getting spammed on our servers something like 2 million times within a single 48 hour period. That may have been a DDOS though against us.
getting mentioned on a pr7 site is going to do more good than going after a bunch of pr1s or pr0s. so def make sure you get linked on quality websites.. cuz if they go down.. so do u
I say do it naturally and keep it clean if you are wanting to keep it long turn. "forced and fast may not last"
You can never be sure what filters Google have in place. I'm sure if you whacked out a thousand links with directory submissions that you'd no doubt set the alarms off.
It certainly can be. more important is how fast you build them, what kind of links, and your backlink profile. If a brand new site gets thousands of primo links in a day, someone is likely to notice. If you try to googlebowl CNN out of the serps with shitty links, goodluck to you.
I think a site can not get penalized for getting too many backlinks in short period of time, as if google used to penalize sites for getting too many backlinks [quickly], then people will start to do all this for their competitors in order to get them penalized. The worst that can happen is that google will ignore such links, that is, you will get no credit for those links.
You don't need so many links in the seo purpose, you need several high pr site links, and with the related niche! Good luck!
I have had an experience when I bought like 200 links at once and my rankings dropped dramatically. Once I removed all those links (was costing me more then site makes) in a month ranking went back. The other thing is, it also depends on how many backlinks your site already has. If for example you already have 1000 links, then if you get 200 more at once it wont hurt you as much.
There is definitely such a thing as too many backlinks ! You need to make a judgement on the site, a well established site will have a higher threshold than a new site. Make sure you switch between many keywords for your anchor text, the more links the more anchor text. I have seen many sites drop out the search results for competitive keywords after heavy link building focussing on one primary keyword. Ensure link building is varied, tooo many link from one type of tactic will give your game away. Make sure you get link from all different types of sites.
Personally from my experience quality isn't as important as quantity YET. I was backing linking 120 backlinks every 2 days (hell) but it got done and my website and articles rose up in the serps and landed number 1 on google for many keywords. Some with over 1 mill pages (not comp). I dont think too many is bad unless you pump out way too much like over 5k a day or something. Other than that your pretty sweet
