I wouldn't doubt it. Think about the immense amount of personal data that company has access to, and how all of these attractive, 100% free services they keep releasing become must-haves for everyone (especially Gmail).

As of now, Google is a private company but you never know what happens in the future! If it ever goes bankrupt, then the government might infuse public money and buy the stake to keep it afloat! Regards, RightMan

I don't think the US government owns Google though with the way things are going it is a possibility.
The Government of Each Country more than Likely has someone working within all or most of the Internet Service Providers because of Anti-Terroism Laws, Etc which means in Theory all of the internet is Government Owned because they can Censor it when they like even though people may not like it. ~ Mike
Google is not government owned. If they were the government would start placing queries into the search engine to make people believe 100% of what they say.
Just curious where you heard something like this? You would really have to mince words to put any logic to this.
How would the govt. be benefited by owning Google? Google may bring in revenue, but it would not be enough for the govt. to do one thing at a time for another 100 years too(if G stands until then)
