I have started some forum marketing this week. For those of you that do this method, about how many post do you do a day or a week. Is there a good niche that this method works well with.

Well you could join up to some forums, get some ranks and use your forum signature to advertise. Alternatively you could make posts (if it's the type of forum that allows it which is HIGHLY unlikely) or if you're looking for an option that will bring in alot of traffic and highly targetted revenue but will cost a bit is getting ad placements on related forums and sites .
i don't think forum marketing was a great idea to promote stuff, cause like Gort said, yu will have your signature delete immediately. try bum marketing instance, it has prove to works very well. just submit 2-3 article per day and you will soon see the result.
Forum signatures are fine. I just don't allow people to make posts that are nothing but advertisements.
I never really got any sales from any forums. But if you do post valuable content people do PM you and you can add your affiliate link in then.
It's successful for some but to me it does not seem sustainable or scalable. Sure, you might make a few hundred out of it but can you make several thousand out of it? Spend your time doing more useful activities.
I agree with you I will spend time writing ARTICLES rather then making post which will be much more valuable to you in the LONG RUN
