    Hi All,

Just wondering what software you would highly reccomend for speeding up a pc?

I have heard of a few but not tried them yet:

    Diskeeper
    speed up my pc

    And a few others.

But ones ones have you used that actually work and you see a diffrence?

    Thanks
    Jamie ;)

go start> run > type msconfig then go to start up tab and disable programs that you need not to be up when just browsing. just uncheck these programs. don't worry they will work when you open the program.

or simply just: i just learned this somewhere.

    1. Open your notepad
    2. type in 'mysting(80000000)' without the '' .
    3. then save on desktop as ram.vbe .
    4. The click on the icon ..and face the results
NOTICE : close all the working programs b4 doin' this .
if you have 128MB of RAM then put (16000000)

    it works for me.

adjusting your systems visual effect can also speed things up. The best way is to just add more memory. They are cheap nowadays.

msconfig > disable startup items you dont want.

When offline i.e playing games etc. turn off anti virus.

I will suggest you not to use too much applications and also don't use a heavy anti-virus.

Your PC will work better automatically. :D

    Hi monty1989
there are so much reason of slow system like
    antivirus
    Ram capacity
    defragment
    etc.

    you can speed up by

turnoff antivirus at the time of using net
    increasing Ram capacity
    defragment your disk:)

Using softwares to speed up your pc is useless. It only uses your cpu and memory. I would go for a physical upgrade which means breaking your piggy bank and buying a new ram or cpu.

Ofcourse, installing a virus scanning software will dramatically speed up your pc if the slow down was cause by a virus/trojan.

Agree with that. Either that or rebuild your system to get the junk off.

No, they are not useless. I'll say they are essential for PC maintenance to operate it smoothly.

CCleaner is the best. It gets rid of all the things you don't use so less time loading etc.
