Hello everyone My site is currently undergoing finalisation with regards the design of it , my second mission will be SEO. I have limited knowledge of this subject and for the next many months to come. I will apply myself to the margins of SEO and learn it myself. I have some money to spend on my self training. I don't want e book nonesense because i don't trust my heap of a lap top to hold it in the event of a failure. If anyone knows a holy grail hard book of SEO work , by this i mean keyword placement and on page optimisation. Then please let me know. Also , can someone look at the homepage here and tell me if things nearly look ready. www.menequip4life.com Kind regards James
SEO changes far to quickly to be captured in print. You will probably rank well for 'mengineering' since there appears to be zero competition. However, I suspect you are targeting very different key phrases, are you not? For those you have not a chance at this point.
no offense, you have a long and fun road ahead of you. SEO is complicated. The foundations do NOT change THAT often, but you will want to stay atop of the new tech. Basically the idea is to provide the reader with great content. That's it. If you are putting out garbage then you have a much harder road ahead of you, but if you put out real/good content (not spam) you will find your road to still be long, but not as hard. The best advice I can give is to copy what the people on the first page of google are doing and DUPLICATE that to a "T" if you model them then you will get the same results they are getting. (for the most part) Then your challenge is to outdo what they are doing by even a little bit. And eventually you will take their spot. Remember, whether you are doing SEO or you are doing PPC/CPM you are buying your traffic one way or another. There is no such thing as absolutely free traffic. You are paying with money or with time. That's up to you to invest.
The absolute BEST time to SEO a site is when you are designing it... not AFTER you've designed it. SEO should be an integral part of the design process. What if your web designer made cool dropdown navigation menus but used JavaScript to do it? Sorry... the engines won't be able to follow those links... The pages that are linked to in the navigation won't get credit from the inbound links. What if your web designer designs your site in Flash or using frames/iframes? Well you're pretty much screwed if you want to rank at the search engines. What if your web designer didn't consider the keywords that each page on the site is targetting to rank for? They probably aren't using the correct words as link text in the navigation links and contextual links of your site. What if your web designer didn't organize the site in such a way that PR and relevancy flow around the site in a way to optimize how your pages chances of ranking? What if your web designer didn't name the pages with keyword rich URLs containing the keywords that that page is targetting to rank for? To fix this later you'll have to implement 301 redirects for each page whose name changes. Fixing all of these types of things (and many more) is MUCH more difficult AFTER the site is live. I would STRONGLY suggest that you place a robots.txt file in the root of your web like the following: BEFORE you place the first page on your site... This will prevent the search engines from indexing your site while it's being built. Once you have everything ready for "prime time" THEN change your robots.txt to: to allow the search engines to begin crawling it.
If you want to learn SEO then do one thing, hire an Expert SEO and hand over this work to him and tell him about your goal. Tell him each and every thing you want and that SEO will tell you his or her demand. Every time be in touch with that SEO and see all changes and works being done by SEO. Ask about every thing related to your website, you have hired him and you will get good response. This is the best thing to learn SEO. If you will start doing SEO by yourself then you won't able to do all the things properly. SEO is expert then you don't need to worry about, you will get work done and and you will learn many things and processes about SEO. Take your time in choosing right SEO.
