My plan is not to change laptop before 2-3 years so Which technology will last for 2-3 years, Intel Pentium M, Intel Core Duo, Intel Core Duo 2, AMD Athlon, Intel Celeron. ( I am not good in hardware, but i think intel core duo 2 is latest) Which brand is best and give more good results: Dell, Acer, HP, Toshiba, Sony, Apple, Asus. I think dell is best and hp or compaq is good. (ofcourse dell is expensive). If Laptop has DOS operating system, can i convert that into Window xp or 7? How are mini laptops? How one can buy laptop from dell.com while leaving in pakistan ( using coupons) My budget is 600-650$ and min 2-3 hours battery time. and i will prefer dell or hp becoz they r well known and i have fear that toshiba, asus , acer are not good as they r cheap. (but need ur best suggestion maybe i am wrong about asus and all others.)
Whats your budget? Do you program? How long do you intend to keep it for? Do you like any brand in specific?
600-650$ if i can get good one less than 600$ then np i will before 2/3 years i do not want to change. do not have much knowledge about hardware but i hear hp and dell has good names. Work relates to design html/css/php/psd and website management.
Not sure why or where you;re seeing DOS on a laptop. Is there a need for it? Most laptops nowadays at least have WinXP or Vista installed. The ones with Vista should have a free upgrade to Win7 when it comes out included. (That's a Microsoft policy for I believe the preseeding 6 months or so before a new OS is released.) Most laptops off the shelf will have a 2-3 hour charge already. What you should look for is the number of cells within the battery. For example a 6 cell battery will last longer than a 3 cell battery. The tradeoff is weight though as more cells equals more weight to the unit. I'm debating on a mini laptop myself. Some of these run a form of linux instead of a windows OS. Not sure if that matters to you but something to keep in mind. I've been looking at the hp.com site and they have some for $250 and up but these tradeoff the OS to reduce the price. Really depends on what you plan to do with this laptop. I'm not big on dells myself having just gone through my second one within 5 years. They're also know for using substandard and/or used parts but I think to save money all manufacturers do that now a days. The processor depends on what you plan on using it for. Hope this helps, -drmike
You can go for DELL Vostro A800 Series! it works good also lies in your budget.... You can have in just $560-580 with One Year International Warranty
In that budget you cannot get a better machine than this Asus K50IJ-C1 15.6" WXGA 16:9 LED/T6500/Intel GL40/4GB DDR2/250G 5400rpm/DVDRW/Vista 64
HP is a good choice. For a laptop/notebook to purchase make sure you buy a laptop stand (consists of small fans) along with it. Since I have seen many a times, a laptop stops working because of over heat. I have seen guys bought a laptop and are very reluctant to purchase a laptop stand consisting of fan to give proper ventilation and keep the base of laptop cool. Thanks Vikas
Friend, Core 2 Duo is the processor for you. I got Acer Aspire yesterday for $680 - $685 (depends on exchange rate). it is a decent one with 3 GB RAM and 320 GB Hard Drive.
Do NOT buy a mini laptop/netbook/sub notebook to use as your main PC. The keys and screen are too small. --- I'll never buy a Compaq/HP ever again - awful build quality. Get a Toshi
Excuse me!! but who you are interested in buying laptop but not desktop PC? will you work outside the home ? if no i will vouch for Core2Dou Desktop PC, desktop pc is always reliable than laptop for heavy computing.. Intel® Desktop Board DP45SG Intel® Desktop Board DX48BT2 Intel® Desktop Board DQ45CB (AGP) well actually my brother owns a computer hardware shop (i can vouch for more boards) you can easily get Core2Dou desktop PC in 450-500 dollars if you are still interested in Laptops, go for Dell
you should folloving points in mind budget purpose of use speed ypu require of cpu capacity of atorage Ram Brand
Don't go anywhere near HP. I could build something better with Lego and duct tape. I've had a few Toshibas, treated them like CRAP, and they're still rocking. I'm talking about laptops that are nearly 15 years old. If I had to buy a full size lappy - I'd be going straight to Toshiba.
Let me now how long are u supposed to use also tell me your budget, and the long hours you wanna use.
i use my dell inspiron and i don't have any problem with this.I would suggest you to buy a dell laptop.its worth the money.
