Links dissapearing in google "link:" checker hello Ive had over 200+ links showing up using link: in the search now today I only have 3 links showing from my own site. Is the reason that the links are disappearing is because google is discounting them? I know the link number moves up and down, but ive never had so much disappear at one time. The links are all coming from all my different blogs I own with pagerank and authority. So i cant imagine why the would be bad?
Links that come up with "link:" are a snippet of total links that your webpages actually have. Google shows only those links which are of high quality. Google devalue links from article sites or blogs if they go deep in archives and sometimes you don't see them anymore as a backlink of your site. Sometimes sites linking back to you delete your links, or may get penalized. In this case also these backlinsk gets devalued. So basically there are many reasons for this behavior of Google. You should keep focus on your rankings. Try to get backlinks from genuine resources and good sites. The more permanent a link is, more value it gets.
You would rather check it using the Google Webmaster tools. That is where the entire list of your backlinks as in google database appears.
unless you see your ranking dropping weirdly i think there's nothing you should be worried about. There are also tools that you can use to check your back links...
