Hello. I am not such an expert at programming, I tried reading the documentation for the Google API and I couldnt understand how to do what I want. What I want is to make a php script that given a website and a string, will tell me in what position of the search results this website is. Can somebody help me with that? Thanks!

Heard about this somewhere, but not sure that its what you wanted. But there is some similar script locating positions for a particular keyword.

There are some programs that do it. Actually, they perform the search and then page through the results to find your website.
However, google doesn't like robots to mess around with it search engine, so it will block your IP if you try to run this kind of program.

i use http://www.myseodashboard.com to check google rank. It is a free seo tool that checks Google, Yahoo, and Bing. You can also schedule the tool to run daily so then you do not have to wait for it to finish.
