    It depend on who it is. Some singers are more popular than an actors and some actors are more popular than a singers.

    Actors, most singers are big for short periods or one hit wonders but actors are building up their C.V./skills with every film.

    In India actors are more popular but some singers get the same reputation aswell like Lata Mangeshkar, Ar Rehman etc

    I think that actors are more popular than anyone else !
    For example- Tom Cruise, Silverster, Arnold, Angelina... etc
    All are famous and most of the people around the world know them.

    If a singer returns to their hometown, they get a huge welcome and they usually perform a small concert. But if actors return to their hometown, what do they get? Nothing. Or at least that's what we assume they get.

    I think, Actors are the most famous people in the world, I agreed that MJ also has a fame. .

    But still, not many singers i guess. . compared with actors
