Have some serious willpower. You'll get nowhere without it. I heard the gum works a great deal from people I work with so I would definitely try that out if you haven't.

When you plan your strategy for quitting tobacco, use the U.S. Surgeon General's five keys to quitting: get ready, get support, learn new skills and behaviors, get and use medicine, and be prepared for relapse.

My father was a chain smoker . but it has been 6 yrs he stopped smoking . . . Whenever u feel like smoking eat a chewing gum or mint chocolate . . . this is how he stopped . . . If u follow this strictly for few days you'll forget smoking u won't even be tempted to smoke . . . Try this . . . All the best . . .

I smoked for 6 yrs, once i have decided it is enough now! After that I have not smoked for 25 month. From my experience I can say only the willpower may help you!

I used to smoke but now i can totally quite smoking! It is harder than expected to quite smoking in a short period of time. Luckily most of my close friends accept to be apart of it. They did give me a big hand!

All in all, you also must have a strong motivation to quite smoking! Smoking never good for you and people around you.

You should carry chewing gums all the time. As soon as you want to start smoking, you put a chewing gum in your mouth. After doing this for a few months you won't need these cigarettes anymore ;)

Try to smoke as much as you can on one night then you will hate them from the next day. you will not even like the smell of smoke.

OK, speaking as someone who quit about three months ago, here's what I found:

    - the patches really help. They take the worse off, and make it manageable, just as long as you don't see them as a miracle quit thing.
    - accept that it will be painful for a few days at least. If you tell yourself your body is acting this way because of withdrawal, it helps.
    - I found brushing my teeth a lot helped with the cravings.
    - If you don't make it, don't beat yourself up, but do have another go. This was my sixth or seventh attempt.
    - Take it easy the first couple of days. Your body goes into shock from the withdrawal. After that, try and be active as it takes your mind off it a little

It's not so much a lack of discipline rather than a severe addiciton. Your body puts you through various levels of physcal and mental pain, as the withdrawal itself is temporarily harmful to your body.

When you quit, all you do is notice your friends and people who smoke. You get scared to go out in case you see everyone smoking around you, and life just loses its fun.
