I think there should be an alternative to Google. Currently Google controls your search and gathers too much personal information about you. If there are at least two equal players on the market it is always better. Microsoft is the only company, which can compare to Google with respect to human resources and financial situation and have a good chance to make Bing a competitive product to Google Search. That is the way I see it.
I'm very happy that Bing is getting some positive press. Its critical that at least a semi viable competitor remain otherwise all of our eggs are in Google's basket and that can be quite stressful.
Oh? What personal data does Google have on you right now? Please list this personal data you know they collect. I'd settle for any links you can find to verify such personal data Google tracks about you. What about Yahoo? Yahoo is twice as big in search than Bing. Since Yahoo is twice as effective, shouldn't you be rooting them on?
Same thing to you. Yahoo has twice the usage of Bing yet you are throwing all your weight into Bing instead of Yahoo? Why do you say that without Bing all our eggs are in Google's basket as if Yahoo does not exist?
In what way? Almost no one uses it. There are almost twice as many yahoo users as Bing users but you think Bing competes better?
They've made much progress, I admit, however I don't want fancy stuff telling me about something else, I want the query I search for, with the information I want. I sent feedback about Bings homepage image thing, it's a waste of resources. This is why Google will always be #1, they get to the point.
Nothing in this world is eternal. have found the results are equal to google and the look is not a small thing. If a look makes things more intuitive to navigate then its a huge plus. Still use google ton loads more but when I want to see what else is out there I use Bing and do enjoy the look.
Bleh. The penetration of broadband makes that a non issue for most people. We live in a very visual oriented world (TV creams the life out of book reading). I can't even notice the millisecond more that Bing takes to land over google.
Most of the world does NOT have broadband. Nothing can paint a better picture than the mind. It's far more than a millisecond and, if Bing were ever to get more than 8% usage, you would notice the slowdown significantly.
Well When I want to paint a picture in my mind I won't have a monitor and keyboard in front of me to do it now will I?. So on the Internet the point stands. Broadband penetration IS significant enough to cater to. Purists want everything the same. Variety to life. Google goes with a plain presentation and it works for them. Yes most of the world does not have broadband but there IS enough of us with broadband to cater to a more pleasing visual experience and theres nothing wrong with that.
hm... bing is not good. when i search for some key words, it throws some junk internal pages...google does it best.
He was referring to books. That the internet is more visual than books. Never said it wasn't. Actually, I had forgotten that, in the US at least, broadband usage had crossed the 50% mark some time last year. Worldwide, however, only about 10 countries or so are above 50%. How do you draw that conclusion? Again, never said they shouldn't.
I'm not to impressed by it yet. I haven't really used it but, it just seems like another search engine, just with a lot of iCandy.
