Has anyone had any experience with doing 503 redirect to a URL that is ranking high on the SERPs? Care sharing the aftermath?
Is 503 a redirect at all? I thought its a "Service unavailable" error. Are you talking about 301 or 302?
I would definitly love to know the answer to this question. I have seen redirected sites in the SERPS, but I've never had my redirected sites listed.
I'm more intertested in knowing about redirecting an internal URL of a site which is already ranking high for a certain keyword to a new URL. I'm concern if the new URL would take the place of the old one in the SERPS. If so, how long did it take to see it come back? If not, did the URL take a lower ranking and never recovered or completely dissappeared from the SERPs for an indefinite period of time? Google is my main concern since 90% of traffic comes from it. I don't want theories, I want real experiences so please share them if you have any.
Once I had to move my site thru 301 redirect. I have posted my findings at my blog in post moving domains with 301 redirect. I hope that is useful.
