Preety nice tools. But I still can't find out how to sort the result descending by date and it would be better if you give PR info on every search result :D.

I'll see if I can add a way to sort by date in the future, but I'm not sure it will be possible.

The results are ordered in a way to refelect the SERPS, so the most relevant (highest ranked) things should be displayed first. I will look into pagerank also.

    Thanks for the ideas.

    I tried:
    'my-keyword comments -"0 comments" -"no comments" -"comments (0)" -intitle:comments'
It came back with results which were not even blogs such as Wikipedia!

How can I get actual dofollow blog results from this?

Read the previous posts and you'll find out. It means there's no nofollow tags, but that doesn't neccessarily mean it's do follow.

So for some of the questions:

It is not just for blogs. It indexes the whole internet. You can also find wikis, blogs, forums, etc. I tried to make some suggestions of how to find specific types of sites on the followtopia blog, but none of it is fool proof. Please let me know if you have any better techniques.

I do get a lot of requests for blog only search. I'll have to see if I could also make a blog only search engine. I know there are a lot of them out there, but it seems they are not that accurate.

No they are not all do follow, but the no follow ones are marked as no follow, and the do follow ones are marked as dofollow, so you can just skip the nofollow ones in the results. Also, only the result page itself is checked for the nofollow tag. Other pages on the site could have a nofollow tag, so you want to search in a way that you only find pages that you directly comment on.

I'm constantly thinking about how to try to make this faster. The slowest part of the code is the check for the nofollow tag, and I haven't been able to come up with a way to speed that up. However, it is much faster than checking for the nofollow tag yourself. At any rate, I'll certainly try to speed this up, but I'm not sure I can get it much faster.

One way I was thinking to make it faster would be to add number for results pages instead of just "next results" at the bottom. That way you could open multiple results pages at once. Would that help? (I'm a little worried my server may not be able to take it, but maybe we can try it.)

Ok. I finally got around to adding something like page rank to the Followtopia Search Engine. I couldn't actually use page rank, but the folks at seomoz.org made a ranking system (with a nice api) to give similar info to page rank. It is actually mozrank. Here is a description of mozRank, and how it works. Here is a comparison of mozRank and page rank.

I hope this helps all of you with your search engine optimization.
