The concern with going private adverts, Shawn and crew will have to take time away from other matters (ie spammers, forum issues, etc.) to deal with those advertisers. With Adsense, it;s just a copy and paste and that's pretty much it.

It would take a lot of moderation to keep something like that from turning into a big spam fest. Too many will try to get hardcore adult sites on there, creating noosense threads. Not a good idea IMO

i havent read all the posts in this thread so far, only the first page. but i can say that this is a very good move.
    it achieves many purposes:
    1. decreases spam threads from people who just want their adsense code implemented. people who are only here to try and make some $ from adsense

    2. allows Shawn to play around with the ad units. everyone on this forum agrees that the current one looks pathetic.

    3. doubles the revenue for Shawn. So he has a lot more to put BACK into DP, thus resulting in a better forum.

    i have made $0.03 i think :D

i suppose what you can do is allow only the mods to have their adsense up. that way at least they are getting "paid" for their hard work :)

think about it this way you guys say youve earn between $1 - $5
in a year each lets say 25k of you are doing this = $25,000 which could go towards better servers ect...

Personally, I think it should be done away with so efforts can be put somewhere else.

There's a lot that can be done with a forum this size, and to keep putting effort, or even MORE effort, into something that makes MOST people just a few cents is spinning the wheels IMO....

I wonder how long it will take the people who have been abusing the system to notice and understand the change?

along with the mentioned 3 points, here's a few more points:
    see this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1417531
    4) such threads will stop, that's a positive one.

    5)
he must be joking, but am sure there are some members, specially those newbes who tries to do this... this will help prevent click fraud, and will safegaurd dp advertisers interest too :)

This should be done much earlier , glad that there is no revenue sharing model , RS usually attracting only some low level webmasters and some spammers and thats all
