The BOTW.org - best of the web directory used to be considered a must have directory link back. I was on there and did not renew. I am wondering if like most directories the value has diminished or is it still highly valued by google? Any thoughts.
They still seem to have some good juice with Google as it still shows up a BL in Google for me. FYI - I even get a trickle of traffic out of it.
if you can afford it, then go ahead. but it is still a single directory link. you can spend the same amount on building some contextual backlinks hiring some ghost writers and then publishing them to top social media, web 2.0, and top article directories which will ofer you greater benefit in my view
I think if you have a large budget where it doesn't matter then yes do it. I hear all of the big SEO's saying how it is such a great link but also remember most of those SEO's are friends with those who own BOTW. Like others said at the end of the day it is a good link but is still just a single directory link which doesn't seem to give as much juice as an in-content news source link.
I've been contemplating the same thing. Want the link but the cost is up there; probably be best to do the lifetime link versus the yearly.
I'd look into the lifetime $299 submission over the yearly $99 submission. I don't know how much the link will RAISE your serp positions, but it is definitely a "trustworthy" link in googles eyes (in my opinion), and the site goes back to 1999, making it one oif the oldest websites you can get a link on, which I think can help. $299 is a bit stiff of a price, but beats $299/year that Yahoo charges. Just my opinion with no hard facts!
There's a promo code that you can use between now and the end of the month to get 50% off a bundled marketing package with BOTW Directory and BOTW Local. Details are on the BOTW blog: 50% Off on BOTW Bundle. Window on that offer is pretty short... "early bird" and all that.
