Public Records Products

    Hi all,

Just wondering what type of conversion ratio people are getting on records traffic (public, marriage, divorce, etc)? I've found a pretty good way of generating low cost targeted traffic, but my conversions have been brutal so far and I've already had a couple refunds. If anyone who has experience in this field could help me out with some basic stats (approximate conversion/refund rates) and advice as to which of the many public records products converts the best, it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Yeah - as I said I have the traffic. But I don't have the conversions...and I don't understand how the PPC affiliates are making any money given the average CPC appears to be around $0.50.

The adwords competition for these products are insane, I gave up a long time ago.

I have promoted these in the past and always did very well with them. However, the refund rates were so high that it caused me to cancel my ppc campaign. This was before vendors were so eager to put your tracking codes on.

I focused on "finding people". Sales around holidays would absolutely explode.

Which of the products did you find converted best? As I said, cost of traffic isn't really an issue - so the refund issue isn't as big a deal.

I've tried my hardest with these types of products but there is just way too much heat on them. Plus I found out that most people really feel that this type of service should be free. I'm not saying that people aren't purchasing, and that some affiliates aren't making a killing, but its also kind of a bland product for me to be promoting personally, and I think mixing a little passion/self interest in their really helps.

The service that they offer is very weak, the records checkup often bring erroneus results, or no results at all, hence rendering it useless to the customer

Promoting public record products on PPC is too expensive. By the way, most public records and criminal records can be obtained for free. Most counties and/or states have their own public record related sites. (free sites or with very low fees). It's also impossible to advertise on "background check" related keywords because of starting bids of $4.00 per click. "Court records" are also available for free. "Reverse cell phone" related products convert quit well, but also here you get very high CPC prices due to an overhyped market...

Thanks for the response, but did you even read my original post?

Acquiring traffic isn't the issue for me, I was asking for what types of conversion and refund rates other people were getting. With clicks around $1 each in the "public records" niche - someone must be getting good conversions with it (or they wouldn't be spending so much per click).

I think these products are a lot higher quality than the Forex bots and other crap on Clickbank - from what I've been told, actually getting the free records isn't that easy, which is why people are willing to pay for them.

true, some records are hard to find, that's what keeps this market going.
To answer your question, I think conversion rates are about 1:60. I had 3 refunds out of 40 sales.
I stopped promoting public records because of low (negative) roi. I still have a "DEAD" people search website peopledetective dot org...

Normally I wouldn't give this info away, but the site I was using I've already sold. If you want a clue as to how many of them do it, just put your phone number into google.

All you have to do is find a website that has nothing but phone-numbers - scrape it - customize it - and add a little code and your affiliate id. If you get lucky, google will index most of your pages. I put one of these sites together and was making $1.2k by the end of the first month. I sold it after the 2nd month for $10k.

Search and download public marriage records. Get a digital copy for yourself or find out if someone you are seeing online is already married

I can see that this is a very old thread but I'll answer it anyways.

Do you know much about background checks? This page of mine is a FAQ on background checks. Doing research and offering real information on the topic is more effective than just submitting an affiliate link.
