Having links for websites is good, but why do so many worry about PR? I've seen postings about PR and I am confused. PR seems to have little or if anything in where the page is positioned in search. Is this just a status thing, like a personalised number plate? Hope someone can answer me, I maybe missing out on something important as have never bothered about PR.
if you sell websites it can be a good indicator on what google thinks about the website. Also its a "status" symbol
Most of the people obsessed with PR, are the ones who have made the sites to simply sell the links! They get higher price for selling the links on their websites, for a higher PR...as simple as that! Regards, RightMan
For me I don't worry about PR... I'm more into the site traffic which turns into revenues. PR will follow as soon you established it. As you said and what the poster above me, it's more of the status symbol.
PR means nowhere near as much as it used to. TBH I wouldn't worry about PR at all anymore, just aim on getting quality links to your site.
Page rank is one of the factors that google uses to measure how "popular" your site is. The more backlinks you have, the more popular google thinks your site is. The more popular google thinks your site is, the better it ranks in the results pages. But some people get obsessed with page rank and that is all they focus on. PR is just one small factor that google uses to rank your site. PR is important, but no more important then posting original content or updating your page on a regular basis.
PR has many advantages. if you have a high pr site, you can sell links and posts and many more. high pr means high esteem in Google's eye and Google is the master of internet
IMHO, PR is a waste of time in today's SEM/SEO it is an indicator that is out dated and useless as of today. There is a wide spread phenomenon with new webmasters to get there PR up there. I used to think that PR was important and only built DO-Follow links to my site so they can pass PR on... but as of today I do not care what so ever about Do-Follow vs. No-Follow because all I want is traffic and SERP's! SERP's come from any form of link to your site it doesn't matter if its Do-Follow or No-Follow! Site traffic comes from good content and good content only! My 2cents in a nutshell!
Achieving a high Page Ranking is difficult as we're talking about Google's ever changing algorithm's. The fact of the matter is that Page Rank is important to SERP placement. The higher the Page Rank the more relevant Google finds your website the closer you come to #1 in the SERP for your keywords/keyphrases. You may find that a website with an index Page Rank of 2 is listed in the #1 position of the SERP for specific keywords/keyphrases, this is because the listed page is the most relevant page with the highest Page Rank for the specified keyword/keyphrases. One important rule is not to try and cheat the system. Google is infamous for tracking down loopholes and closing them making cheating a waste of time.
It's true, pr is not everything, but everything is pr Kidding I mean, i agree with those who saying that pr is not everything but if we have high pr, google will put our site in higher position in seach engine well, correct me if i am wrong
Whoever says PR is not important is wrong. let say there are two websites both of them targeting a keyword "fast cars" one of the websites has a name fastcars.com and the other one has fastcars.net If they both did the same Seo, the one with the higher page rank will be displayed first. So if you are competing for a hard to get niche then you must have a high PR
Yea you're right. For me, high pr domain works best with duplicate content, sometime I see a duplicate content posted on high pagerank domain would ranked better than the original one posted on low pagerank blog.
If you have good content then you will have good back links and eventually gain good pr. So no need to worry really
