Duplicate Sites?

    Hi there
Just wondering if Google sees it as bad when there are 2 websites with the (somewhat) same content. I have 2 sites, one catered to Canada (a .ca site) and one catered to the US (a .us site) and there are some slight wording modifications but overall, they are mostly the same.

I just want to make sure I take the proper steps so that neither site gets delisted for duplicated content.

    Thanks!

So how would I go about launching the 2 sites? I have 2 different markets but have the same content for them?! and obviously the currency difference

I think the domain TLD makes the difference, Google sees them as different sites, hence not penalized for duplicate content.

So how do you solve this issue then? How about creating one main page and have 2 identical subpages?

maybe try and have one site which is where everyone ends up - as opposed to two seperate sites which are idential of each other

Yes, I would take the most popular of your two sites and make it redirect to the other. I know that doesn't solve your canadian one being indexed better in canada, and the us one better in the us, but it is a solution

Its better that you redirect the one domain to the other by using 301 redirection. At the moment 301 redirection 'follows' the anchor text and most of the Pagerank. Also you should use a google webmaster tool called 'change of address'.

Ya, duplicant content is not good. Atleast change the text/articles on it.

It would be better to change the meta elements (title, desciption, Keywords etc) first and the content need to be modified.
