Please HELP - I am SOOOO close - Just need that last push :-)

    Hello all,

I am going to keep this sort and simple.

I have a blog that's currently at the 11th position for my keyword after a few months of really hard work.

You, of course, understand the value of that 1 extra place. If I was 10th, I would be on the first results page and I was there for a few hours and it worked wonders for me.

My question is.... How do I get that 1 extra place quick?

I have done pretty much everything there is to be done as far as on/off page SEO goes. I think I pretty much got all the basic techniques down, however, I have tried them all simultaneously, so I didn't really notice why one did the trick to put me up there.

I NEED YOUR HELP. What is the single most important thing that you would do to get that first page result?

Please don't just say keep up the hard work - I am already doing that - Just want to concentrate on that 1 most important thing for a couple of days so that I get up there.

    Thanks so much in advance!!!

Links... Links... Links... When you are that close, the number one thing you can do is to build more backlinks to that page with the targeted keyword phrase (or slight variations of the phrase) as the link text.

If there were on-page SEO tactics that could help, no one could really suggest them at this point because you didn't provide us the URL of the page that is ranking 11th and the targeted keyword phrase that you are trying to rank for. Any suggestions you get would simply be guesses.

Get more links from various forums and avoid targeting 1 keyword again and again. Search engines hate PUSHING.

A Blog post on well indexed related blog with PR2+ will help :) or submit 2 articles in ezine using anchor text of your keyword

    Both will help

Thank you all so much for your advice!

One more thing to note - I recently made a "profile page" of my blog on a high pr blog directory and that profile page is currently standing at 9th place lol

Anything I can do about that? It makes you think... if I hadn't made that page - there would be 1 less result in the top 10, and I would probably get that 10th place!!! :(

I would build links to both your profile page AND the page you're trying to get to rank for the targeted keyword phrase. It's always better to have 2 listings on page 1 than just a single listing. The more real estate you can take up on page 1, the more likely the consumer is to click on one of your links. Just build more links to the one you want to rank the highest...

But I would definitely NOT try to knock your profile page off of page 1. If possible, add a link from your profile page to the page you're trying to get to rank for the keyword. Obviously, it would be a relevant link since it too ranks for that same keyword.

Get more and relevant backlinks. I have a Wordpress plugin that can help you get the links if you check my signature.

Again - Thank you all for your advice!

If I might ask... why would you say that I should promote the profile page as well? Even though it's full of links to my site, I only got 1 or 2 referrals from it yesterday (while it was sitting on 9th place), so I am not sure whether that would be a good idea.

Then again - I am a noob when it comes to SEO - please advise :)
