I just saw a list of hundreds of new directories that have just been launched and announced. I don't have time to check all of them, but the ones I looked at all have exactly the same design and appearance, the only difference being their names. All of them are .info domains and probably have the same IP address. Can someone please explain to me why somebody would create hundreds of almost identical directories. I really don't know what purpose this serves. Thank you
I have a directory. Once I've got 80 new submissions. When I looked at them, I saw that the websites were all directories, - and all identical except for the NAME. I rejected all of them... waste of time...
They are email harvesters and cheap featured links in hopes of a few bucks... thats about it for 1 year till the .info registration runs out then everyone that submitted basically wasted there time submitting even if it was FREE as the domains will later get dropped. thx M1
These are directory owners that have no morals, and are only out to make a few quick bucks and then either abandon their site(s) or sell them at an inflated price. They often start their directories on dropped domains (a domain that has expired and has not been renewed by its owner). The vast majority of "free" directories are used to collect email addresses (for spam purposes or to sell to others for spam purposes) and often do not bother actually listing sites (or they are setup to auto-approve everything).
There are multiple reasons for create directory networks. 1. email harvesting 2. guaranteed listings business 3. selling them one by one after getting a PR and number of submissions I don't think someone can manage 100s of directories at the same time and ensure quality.
Site owners want to submit their site to many directories that's why they require more and more directory- websites and thus few peoples create more directories to fullfil their requirments.
Couldn't agree more - legit directory owners should stop using, supporting or promoting directory scripts that offer free versions. imo
This problem is getting worse of late. Why create 1 good directory when you can create 200 crappy ones. There are too many networks like this where the owner gets - a free directory script - a free dump of categories - free domains or dropped domains - then hosts them all on the same IP. Since the owner has invested very little time or money they do not think twice about abandoning them. These types of sites give the directory industry a bad name.
You serious?.... This guy has`nt created 100 directories because he wants to help people build backlinks, he wants to harvest your email so he can spam you.
There is multiple reasons for that, Anway what we all can do is ignore these directories, Most of them will not live more than one year.
here today gone the day after tomorrow they are annoying to see, like fabricated houses, all impersonal. I do like good directories that have some class and quality and select good submissions and stick around for a few years so they become valued/trusted/authority directories that are a nice place to be listed
