How to get indexed for a long tail keyword-Please help

Hi friends,

I am new to SEO.This is my first post in this section.I want to get indexed for a long tail keyword.It is a 4 word term with 1000 searches/month

Other specifications

155,000 competing pages

428 for exact match

71 intitle

What is the exact steps I need to follow to get indexed for this word?.

Could you please spend some time to explain in detail?.

I can understand words like backlinks,on page seo, off page seo etc

you need to have links from other websites pointing to yours using that phrase in the anchor text, just a handful should do the trick, maybe even just one a good ranking page

Do 1-2k dir submissions using that text link and you will see results

Use the keyword phrase in your meta-tags (title and description) and have the keyword phrase in your H1 tags. And on the page itself as content. Get or make links from other websites using your keyword phrase as the anchor text.
