Guys I am confused about backlink theory. There are two different sites with different PR. Forum = www.goldentalk.com with PR 4 Directory = www.seotrader.com with PR 2 Now I want to ask that if I post regularly at goldentalk forum and use my site links in signature or posts then is this means that I got PR4 backlinks (one for each post)? I am active poster at GoldenTalk then I should have many many backlinks of PR4? But PR4 is for home page only. When I move to any individual thread that has no PR. It means posting at this forum is not much worth???????? In same if I add my site at seotrader then it means I got one backlink of PR2? In same way might be seotrader has PR2 at home page but in sub-pages that might not have any PR and adding link to this directory is useless????? GCS
the pr of the actual page your link is on is what matters for pr, if you are on a page with pr0, then that is what the backlink is, it doesn't matter what the homepage is
It means if a directory has PR1 or PR2 at home page but in sub business page has PR0 then any url added there will not get called as "Backlink"? Visit this http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=11934421&postcount=4 for live example. GCS
It's a backlink still, but it's a backlink from PR0 page. Backlinks from forums and directories are of low value anyway, because they have so many links on them. You also have to consider whether the actual page your link is on is actually indexed - with some new and low quality directories, not all the pages are
So backlink with PR0 still has value because that is indexed. But any link at such page that is not even indexed does not have any value? True? GCS
Yes, a poor quality link is still a backlink, but if Google isn't indexing all the internal pages of a directory, then the links there are pointless.
Google generally not indexing inner pages . So you wont get much google backlinks as you posted a lot.
adding link to directory and forum both is useful....you get good backlinks through directory and forums......
Thank you for clearing some confusion but I am sure Google also index inner pages. If an inner page has link at home page then that will also be indexed! GCS
True, for example today one page has PR0 and we put link there but might be after one month that page gets PR1, then at that time we will get benefit of our link there. So it is better to put links either not indexed or PR0. Today if one page is not indexed but after few weeks that can get indexed that will increase weight in SEO. GCS
While updating the PR then link juice from home pass to internal pages. If the internal page( which got some PR ) contains the signature then the link will be qith some Juice..
Links from forums are still helpful even if it don't have PR. A link is still a link, it still pass some weigh in SER.
Notwithstanding this fact, quantity might still be better than quality.. One of my friends told me this but I'm not really sure if this works well to everyone.. Even so, this is what I'm doing, building as many backlinks as possible.. Of course, I am considering the fact that I should not build to many backlinks at a time so that I won't get penalized..
it doesn't matter if the pr of the page you are linking got no rank, as long as it is related to your site then its still a quality backlink for your site.
