To be honest, FF is not the fastest browser on my computer. It loads slow sometimes, especially when using hotmal . ( I think I can understand it. )
Me too experience the same situation, if i open the firefox for the first time for that particular session, it was always slow to appear or open but after that the second and subsequent browsers open faster... i thought it was a common occurence, anyone, in fact i dont have any add-ons in my firefox...
previous 3.X.X now 3.5 ... ram 1 gb, window xp pro. Plugin for FF : Firebug, Colorzilla. Quick search status. down them all. start up around 1 minute to 2 minute. ram usage for 5 tab 150mb. (start up) after a hour or two, it become double up. three four hour later it turn out 500- 700 mb.
Well, right now I am also getting an error. I was downloading something and getting download speed of around 5KB/s in Firefox. WHile the same thing got downloaded with speed of 30KB/s in Internet Explorer. - Digital -
Try this. Under Tools->Clear Private Data, check all those boxes and clear that stuff out. Then, clear out your temporary folders: C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Local Settings\History C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\My Recent Documents C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Temp\ Normally I would say this is everybody's solution to everything but this might be a real fix. Under Vista, it would be c:\Users\ etc. If this solves the problem, it's actually a Windows issue that Firefox does not handle well but most people won't see the problem.
humm... read your post, running in the compatibility mode will perhaps speed it up, but what are the side effects. will it cease certain features, or some plugins won't launch? what exactly are on the negatives...
I also experienced the same... But when I downloaded Mozilla Firefox version 3.5, it became fast.. Try upgrading your version to 3.5.. It rocks!!
