Google is going to shake up how it deals with backlinks. Specifically that Google is going to give less weight to less relevant linkage. This source also heard from another direction that a big change was coming in the next few days.

    Anyone know anything?

    Source?

I haven't heard anything about this, and doubt it to be true even if there were a source.

I have been wondering about the relevancy factors for a long time. I hope that when and if they do make the change that more people can give a straight answer about this factor in SEO.

I guess the rumor mill started floating around the time when the US Govt decided to investigate Google as a possible marketing Monopoly :) Just look it up on Google itself and you'll understand what i'm getting at.

I've heard that Google has setup a terminator factory and will be using them to patrol the streets, making police inferior.

So a link from sky news, CNN or NASA is no use to your website?

Links are supposed to be natural, natural links rock.

    Thanks Brian

    What google can measure now.

You got backlinks but the BLs have no traffic at all then your BLs can be nothing.

I think you have been new to the online industry. The link preference is quite known to everyone and there is no doubt that G prefers links from relevant sites.
