Oops, sorry, it was the church that prolonged the myth of the Earth being flat. I shoud have said " And thus the Earth is the center of the Universe" My bad, I can't seem to keep track of the bull
Now there's a oxymoron for you: "a flat circle"; Nice try, but the word "upon" just blows your misinterpretation out of the water. . .along with the fact that there is no such thing as a "flat circle". Sin: all unrighteousness; virtue: praise; power, mighty work, strength, miracle, might, etc. Leprosy, in Scripture is a physical picture and/or object lesson of what sin looks like Spiritually; as for explaining "Someone banging 100 girls not getting HIV but someone got HIV from blood transfusion , who is the sinner here", both are sinners; whether its your way (example), or its someone getting getting 100 blood transfusions and not getting HIV and someone banging 1 girl and getting HIV. You opinion of what is and/or is not "crap" is just that, your opinion; Here's just one of the ways that GOD uses what you call "crap ('dung')", "And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. (Zephaniah 1:17)" Interesting huh? No thanks. You're talking 4BC, tops; Scripture ("The Bible") Which True Christianity believes, begins, at a minimum of 6000+ (that would be about 5,996 years prior to Buddha) years ago. BTW, JESUS CHRIST never referred to any of HIS followers as "Christians".
Buddhism is actually roughly 2,500 years old. I'm not debating which one is older, if you want to get real technical and gay then I'm sure Christianity has older roots. The point is it is a teaching OTHER THAN CHRISTIANITY that has survived more than 2,000 years.. which according to what you said earlier, would make it just as truthful as Christianity.
LOVE Jesus on the cross is about Love - for God so loved the world that he gave his own son The Bible is about Love. Christianity became the biggest religion in the world because of the concept of LOVE. Love God, Love Man. If you have been feed the concept that Christianity is about fear you have been feed a sick view of Christianity and not the GOSPEL - the Gospel is that while we were yet enemies Jesus died for you. You have already been saved by Jesus' death - in Christ all humanity is reconciled to God - in order to be lost - it is a choice you make - you chose to reject God.
Have you not seen a flat circular plate in your life? How do you eat food ? Through your nose ? Even Taliban says the same thing as what your God says
Nate, your point was valid, and my thought exactly, but then this isn't the first time Tbarr has mentioned this. Pick any number of things - the Hindus' Bhagavad Gita, whose texts stretch back to about the 8th century B.C.E. or so, for example - and the argument falls empty. It actually falls astoundingly empty, at least for me, when one actually attempts the argument that the length of time a work is read is an indication of its intrinsic truth. As to whether a "circle" is or isn't flat - with one very exuberant member shouting "show me a flat circle!" (with virtually infinite examples available everywhere) and, well, I guess I just feel a certain sadness. This is a fairly classic presentation of Plato's Allegory. For some, any notion that pierces holes in a rigid belief is simply too much to bear.
Bible is not love. It is about punishment and revenge. How can that be book of love when god kill people on every corner. If we are not perfect then he is guilty because he made us like that.
Here we go again.. Does anyone ever make it past the Old Testament? Hell have any of you actually read the book?
You're always angry and bored when you're right Why should we have to read further, the truth has no contradictions right? You say it as if suddenly god decided he was being a bit of an asshole and changed himself in the sequel. But as Nehemiah puts it, there should be "no iota of contradiction whatsoever".
Like I said.. What made you so angry anyway? What's your issue with God? What happened to make you so vindictive and miserable?
Who's says I'm angry? I'm critical of everything that I see as rubbish. It may sound harsh but the truth often is. Oh, with God I have none. My issue isn't with god, it's with religion, especially the ones that use fear as motivation. Christians need to admit this and confess their poor use of something "god" blessed us with, a brain. My brain continued to develop until I was capable of exposing such rubbish.
You. Step back and listen to yourself. Really? The "Bible" is not a "religion". Seems your pain runs deep. Sad.
Religion or no religion, Muslim or Christianity, Jew or Hinduism, the essence is doing good. Do on to your neighbor what you what them to do to you, and the gates of heaven will be open wide for you. Ooch!!! Think I am sounding like a pastor now.
Where are you stopping me when I'm destroying the left? Same guy here, different issue. I guess the Koran isn't part of any religion either, they claim it's the truth as well.
If by "it" you mean HIM/GOD THE FATHER, then its very easy to keep HIM pleased when one "abides (John 15:[7])" inside THE ONLY ONE [JESUS CHRIST] to ever please HIM (Matthew 17:5). Circular yes, flat no; now reason with me here, if the plate "flat", you'd better not tilt that sucker, huh? But that's not the issue here. The Scripture declares that GOD "sitteth upon the circle of the earth..."; now in order for HIM to do that HE has to encompass the entire earth; and since no mention is made anywhere, especially in that Scriptural context, of the Earth being "flat", for you and others to assume that everyone, years ago, who believed "The Bible", believed the Earth to be flat is just not so. And Isaiah proves it with the aforementioned passage. Trick question, right? See what happens when you get angry? Dumb stuff just begins to happen, right? No; just below it, aka, with my mouth. Of course they do; all religions (and their books) references THE WORD of GOD ("The Bible"). . .but with the exception of "Judaism", THE WORD of GOD ("The Bible") never ever references any religion (other than "pure religion") and/or their books. Interesting huh? See my most previous comment above.
...That tells me nothing. Nice magic trick though. If Christianity has the oldest roots then it would kind of make sense for other religions to reference it. Still the fact that other religions reference Christianity and Christianity doesn't, does not magically mean they admit to Christianity being a superior doctrine/belief to theirs.
No "magic"; just TRUTH in its purest and absolute form. The SUPERIOR never has to reference the inferior, but in order for the inferior to have any semblance of credibility it must, of necessity, reference The SUPERIOR. Now this can tell you something now, or it can tell you something later. . .but I assure you, it will tell you something---a lot of a lot even.
