The title of this thread is "How Good Is Your Article Writing Technique?" with a link that I guess goes to one of your articles. I posted a somewhat critical review of your article, you did not like the reply, so you wish to argue. And to be honest, I was being nice in my review. To be perfectly honest, your suggestions are along the lines of an elementary or junior high education level. A professional article should never use the word "I" - which your article is full of. Never use the word "and" because it creates run on sentences - except when using "and" at the end of a list. Never use the same word twice in the same sentence. Try to reframe from using the same words in the trailing sentence. Those are "basic" principles of grammar that everyone should know. As for traffic and sales - my websites combined, average around 3.5 - 4.0 million page views monthly. My main forum gets around 2.8 - 3.0 million page views monthly with 7,000 - 10,000 uniques daily. 60% - 65% of that traffic comes from ranking in the top 5 in google for my targeted keywords. My blog and my forum rank #1 and #2 in targeted keywords. And my sales are fine, thank you. I would rather write one long article that spans 3 pages, then 3 pages of short garbage post.
I will also say that for a year I have been submitting articles almost blindly as I have just used articles for building backlinks. I can’t though complain as this has helped me build up a network of 30+ gambling sites. As my gambling sites are now established I thought I would have a bash at other niches selling Clickbank, CJ and Neverblue products. I would write a few articles, submit them, get a little traffic for the first few days then get nothing. My CTR was also below 10%. I spent a couple of weeks researching articles that did get plenty of traffic and this changed my thinking process completely. My articles now have a CTR of over 30% (some over 50%!) and much better daily views. I have articles on the first page of Google because I think more about the article titles and keywords. I have also made small changes to the article summary and resource box which has also had a big effect. I’m churning out 5 to 10 articles a day which I can do in less than 2 hours as I now realise I do not have to write a mini masterpiece. Three 300 word articles will generate far more traffic than one article that is 1000 words! The simple fact is that short articles (250 to 300 words) with well researched titles & keywords that are submitted with optimised article and resource box summaries generate more traffic and clicks which equals more sales. I will guarantee that many reading this thread are still submitting articles with their name in the resource box, simply dream up an article title without any research, simply plonk a paragraph in the article summary and never promote an article after it has been submitted. These are the main reasons why their articles get little traffic and so few clicks and sales. I do though realise that many get stuck in their way of thinking and will never change!
Kev I don't even believe you have used any articles to promote your site. You are one of those who are always right and never wrong! Prove me wrong though by posting some of the urls of your articles. You simply do not understand article marketing! I could quote the traffic from my gambling network but that has nothing to do with this topic and that would be to say the least childish!
I would rather write one long article that spans 3 pages, then 3 pages of short garbage post. LOL! In the same time I could write 5 short articles that target 5 long tails and generate 500% more traffic! Keep writing your 3 page articles Kev! PMSL!
Grammar, punctuation, and spelling are IMPORTANT to most people. If all that's done poorly, they could easily pass up your offer, or whatever else you may be trying to get across. In my opinion. If your article looks fake, it kinda makes your look fake. you know? And with that said...
Tips For Your Digital Camera Forum Get someone to design you a VB skin as it looks very poor. Start article marketing as the forum looks like it is dying!
Thanks to the article and Kev bumping this thread I have already made 5 sales! I would say for 10 minutes work the article has done very well! I don't write articles for prizes! I write them to generate traffic and sales and I guess some people simply don't understand. Just think about the average TV commercial which is utter garbage but they sell!
Article marketing is about quality but not only that -- Quantity plays an important role as affiliate marketing is a number's game. There might be times when an article doesn't get too many views/URL clicks, however if you write consistently i.e at 50 articles per week that would be 200 every month. There is no way you won't make money off those 200 articles. If one can't write articles, there's always ghost writers that can do it for you (remember quality plays an important role, that is the main essence/trick to get more sales) Some people write 10 articles related to their niche an quickly give up -- Here's what a 5 figure marketer tought me: -- You'll never be making a fortune submitting 10 crappy articles daily, you need to submit at least 30 - 40 articles daily if you want to make a living constantly off affiliate marketing. And guess what? He was right.. Articles get views / drive traffic make sales.. and most off die off, that is why submitting 30 - 40 articles or even more daily will never let your business dry up .. I know what you'll say... I can't write 30 articles a day.. Well with a bit of practice you'd be amazed to write even more than 30 short articles all alone.. Not to forget there are tons of writers waiting for you to provide work.. - Alex
Very good points! I wish I could write more but as I already have a large network I don't have the time. I will say though that 2/3 of my new sites that have been launched in the last couple of weeks are already getting very decent traffic. The proof though is by the CTR and for a decent CTR you need decent traffic. The article in this thread is not really an article it is a questionaire to get readers thinking about their article wrting technique. For those who say I should not use "I" in a questionaire I don't know what planet you are on. Most start to write a few articles a day then give up as Alex said. I would say that the major points to get traffic from articles is to research your tiles and keywords. It is still easy to get articles on the first page of Google with decent long tail keywords. Many are still starting their resource box like this..... John Smith is a successful bla bla bla and bla bla bla The above will cost you clicks! I know this for a fact as it is what I use to do.
I'm sorry tonyuk but you are talking rubbish in this thread. I have read your ebook and would encourage anyone to download it and give their opinions in this thread! You need your articles to be quality. What is the point in releasing an article if it isn't well written and provides the reader with some information that they value? If you don't write a good article that is atleast 500 words long then people are just going to read the first few lines realise that it is rubbish and click off the page. Everyone knows that qulaity content is the key to success so why should this not apply to articles? I also disagree with what you are saying about the level of the reader. It is really important to assume you have an intelligent reader. I am not saying you need to write an essay here but I think that if your grammer and spelling are rubbish then you lose a lot of credibility! Having said all this I do agree with you tactics to get articles onto the first page of google and have been using the exact technique you offer in the ebook to get articles onto page 1 of google for some time now. I would advise you to stick to working on your serps and get someone else to write your articles for you! ;
My 10 minute artilcle which I do agree is no masterpiece, has generated more clicks than your last 5 articles have generated views as per your Ezine profile. You have made basic mistakes in chosing your article tilte and other aspects mentioned in th eBook and that is why the views are low. Try using all the methods in the eBook and I guarantee your will generate not only more traffic but more clicks and sales!
Ok I will try your techniques with my next 5 articles. I am only going to write 250 word articles and use they ebook guide to get them to the top of google. If it works I will report back. I have found a new niche so I don't want to say what the article will be. I will however say how many clicks they get and if they are ranking well.
