    Hi guys,

I have a community site (vb) that makes around 3k/month right now and I got an offer for that site for 35k. My question is, should I sell it? I have been developing it for 5 months now and I really think that it can boom up after August as the industry my community is about is usually slow in the summer.

    Thanks in advance.

in my opinion, if you really dont want to maintain it and need the money then take the offer, but if you want to earn 3k a month and maintain it, then you will come out with much more cash at the end of it all mabe as big as DP :), in my opinion you should keep it.

Thanks for the feedback but what's the right price do you think if I decided to sell it because I could push the price up to 39k.

Two similar but 4 times bigger sites are making 40k+/mo each.
Still having 2nd thoughts on everything.

I wouldn't keep that link live, 'selling out' might not be perceived as a good thing by your members/mods.

As far as selling is concerned, 35 grand isn't bad for 5 months (part time?) work. But whether or not to do so would depend on many factors like how long does it take you to keep it running etc. for that 3K a month.

Barrier to entry is low on such deals, I'd probably take it myself and get on with the next thing. But then again, your audience could be quite profitable, they seem to be the kind of people who'd be easy to build an opt-in list with which you could use to market all sorts of affiliate deals with - 3K a month doesn't quite seem to be the income seiling from what I can see.

BTW how come you have more members than threads?

My audience are profitable because the other two forums make a fortune without even having adsense on their site and I don't know why we have more members. :( I guess most of them are duplicate accounts. Thanks for the feedback.

    More feedbacks needed please.

I would hold onto that site If I were you. They are offering you $35,000, but how much will that site have made you in 5 years if it is bringing in $3000 per month? The answer is $180,000. If you can budget and save money each month, you can save $80,000 within 5 years, if you can live on $100,000, which I can do easily.

A website is like wine. Hold onto for ten years and sell for $500,000. Hold it for 15 years and invest $1000 of the 3 grand you're making each month, and you will be a multi-millionaire.

The way I see it, you are already on the path of becoming a millionaire if you play your cards right.

    5 years, 10 years, 15 years?

I don't think I'd like to wait that long for a 100k although my site has a potential of making 20k+ after August. I guess you are right in a sense though because the traffic won't be the same but rather increasing if I spend the 1k back into the site which I'm doing right now..

So far I'm more tilted towards not selling it.

Thanks for the opinion and guys, more opinions are welcomed.

If you think that you could make more later on in the year, then wait untill then. Or, let the person buying know that you're expecting your revenue to be increasing later in the year and refuse their offer and they might raise their offer.

    Either way, if you're going to sell then don't accept their first offer ^^;;

He made a 35k offer and it's where it's at right now. He only has 39k in his bank account and well, he even gave me a screenshot of it. So I don't know if I should push it up more as he'd end up not having any money for ads for the site he just bought if he bought it.

Thanks in advance for every comments posted here.
