How exactly do the targeted categories work? I'm not interested in choosing from 20-30 categories, that is not relevant enough for me. I would much rather a contextual system that uses LSA to match pages.
Cool - how much are you willing to pay for such an animal? You may motivate some developers to do just that.
Yes they do use Yahoo as a check for cache the reason behind this is to keep the network more stable. LV is all over the place you never know when your account is going to drop a few thousand points over night because google is having problems.
This network is looking really good. I have moved over several of my sites, and the link placement/crawling/checking is all running smoothly and I am getting links. The only downside is that the number of sites/ads currently in the network is a fraction of LV, but that will hopefully be fixed in a few weeks as more people move over. I think that it has the flexibility, features, and, perhaps most importantly, the technical support/ability to overtake LV and the other networks in the near future. It is also possible to run both it and LV on the same pages, for those webmasters who are concerned about "putting all their eggs in one basket", or those who are concerned about the link churn that an outright switch would cause.
Now that is something that would be nice! However, I think that the current RL system is working pretty well, especially if they can get it setup so we can select multiple categories.
If I had the funds to develop that beast I wouldn't be talking about it here. If anyone happens to take on the project I would support the development with backlinks and a blog entry or two.
Sorry - I didn't make myself clear. How much - as a customer - would you pay for such a service? Can you give some scenarios and round numbers? Thanks!
That is very hard to say. Even if a service claims to use LSA it doesn't mean they have a decent alrogithm for matching you up with relevant pages. Plus pricing is also going to have to depend on the number and quality of availiable pages in the DB. I might consider paying $20 per month for that service if the network is large enough to get some decent links.
I keep hearing that if you place LV links, your site can get penalized or banned. I also hear that pages that display LV links go supplemental. Can something similar happen to sites that place ReceiveLinks links?
We are a lot like LV in the way the network works but LV has some footprints that can be tracked easier then ours. we also do not do thousands of ranking checks to give a way the keywords our users are trying to rank for.
Such as ... - LV places too many irrelevant links, e.g., mortgage link on flower shop site? - LV can place too many links on one site too fast? - LV can drop too many links at once because it relies on Google API heavily and responds to it too quickly?
We put in options and features that limit the first one and the last one the middle one is kind of hard to control but we do our best.
