huh, ONLY 6 pages since I posted here last :p

    The TERMINATOR...he'll be back.

Prediction: T2, T3 to follow...still haven't had a chance to catch T4...heard it was pretty wild.

In fact it was SO COOL for none other than J.D. Sallinger (he wrote the Catcher in the Rye) that he granted an interview to the media for like the first time in 35 years!!! Basically just to talk about the movie!

I remember seeing The Terminator at the cinema in 1984. My friend dropped most of his jumbo popcorn, and since there were only about 5 other people in the cinema, he ate it off the floor. We were all class in the 80s :p

Here are the last few movies I saw with some information on them.

    1. Drive-By Chronicles: Sidewayz

Follows the life of "Sidewayz" a young Mexican who gets involved with a gang but ultimately tries to set his life on the right path. He starts working for an upper class busnessman but things get twisted when his boss suspects him of sleeping with his wife; and the gang he was once involved with is out hunting for him.

Drive-By Chronicles isn't a movie sugar coated with drugs, sex, and violence. This is a drama movie and the director did a good job in making sure the audience feels emotional attachment to the main characters. The most quotable line from the movie would probably be the following joke: "What did the cholo say when a house fell on him? ...get off me holmes!"

    2. Personal Effects

A movie starring top Hollywood names such as Ashton Kutcher, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Kathy Bates. This romance/drama shows the life of Walter (Kutcher) who returns home when his sister was found brutally murderred. In the meantme Walter meets Linda (Pfeiffer) who lost her husband recently as well. The young Walter (24) begins to fall in love with Linda and they continue to live through the court case and other events in the meantime.

Linda's son Clay (played by Spencer Hudson, tremendous performance) is your average teenager but happens to be deaf and has problems coping with his father's death. There are a few blank stares (probably since Ashton rarely does drama films) but it seems to fit his character well. Definitely a great movie and a must see for all drama lovers!

    3. Abducted: Fugitive of Love

This movie wasn't made to be spectacular and I believe it was made just as a movie for TV. However the movie does keep you excited and is fast paced and enjoyable. A man is two years into a sixteen year prison sentence for murder and in self defense ends up with assault charges on his back. The prison warden basically told him he was looking at life and the news didn't go over too well. The prisoner escapes and kidnaps the warden's wife then all the twists and fun stuff gets thrown at you...

It's definitely a fun movie but all the storyline events that occur seem to just show up for the audience and don't give you a big "climax" feel. Still worth a watch though.

    4. Five Fingers

I never thought I could find so much enjoyment in watching a movie where the characters stay in the same room throughout most of the film. Not only that but for most of the movie the same lines are repeated as Laurence Fishburne attempts to press Ryan Phillippe for information. In the meantime Ryan's character gets tortured and continues to have random flashbacks of his girlfriend which tie in to the story

The ending comes on rather quickly after the film's climax and it throws a little twist in that makes the story even more enjoyable. A great cast and story make this film a must watch drama/thriller as it'll keep you on the edge of your seat.

    5. Dolan's Cadillac

This may have unintentially been one of the best cheesy movies of 2009. A notorious Las Vegas mobster, Jimmy Dolan (Christian Slater) hunts down and kills the sole witness to a human trafficking operation and murder. The girl killed was waiting to testify and was considered to be in a safe place. Her boyfriend loses faith in the law and decides it's time to seek revenge by himself, and that he did!

A quick moving chase starts as Robinson (Wes Bentley) prepares himself both mentally and physically to kill Dolan (Slater). The movie has a pretty fun ending as well, worth a watch especially with Slater in the cast.

    6. Match.Dead (no information on IMDB)

Out of every movie I've watched recently I would have to choose to recommend this one the most. Many people won't enjoy this film as much as me but I think it was superbly done. There are some cheesy story ideas that are common in low budget films but this is a pretty solid movie regardless.

Match.Dead tells the story of Ridley Thompson (played by James Ray), a serial killer whom has already killed many young and attractive females in the past. He lures his victims through Internet dating and kills them on his property. However with his latest victim, Valora Smith (played by Kathleen Benner) he seems to have fallen in love. He continues to hold Valora hostage as she tries to escape but running is not an option.

The movie has some small weird religious twists which might go unnoticed until near the end of the movie. Overall it's probably just another bad guy tortures a poor young girl movie but it's one that you can really get into.

Well I rarely ever watch drama movies but I decided to give this one a chance. Besides having a great cast the story is really interesting as well. The movie gets slow at a few spots but the movie speeds through and gets to the next twist within a few minutes. You will probaly get emotionally tied in to the story and most chicks would definitely get emotional but it's not one of those "classic" films.

While Personal Effects won't compare to amazing dramas like Dangerous Minds the story is still solid and it will keep you focused on the movie the whole time. Even if you don't regularly watch drama films I can tell you it's worth a chance. There is more to this movie than just a great cast and Ashton Kutcher does pretty well even though he leaves his comedy movie comfort zone.

Give it a try, you'll probably like it. If you don't, your girlfriend will...or your mom. :D

According to IMDB, The Terminator was only rated M in Australia. Which might explain why my parents didn't kick up a stink.

Strange thing is, they wouldn't let me see Big Trouble In Little China (also rated M) a few years later.
