A lot of questions I see on this forum (and similar forums) discuss link building for SEO. All anybody cares about is PR and how many they can shat out to see if it changes anything in Google. Here's what most people forget, what are you trying to do with link building? Well, you are looking to get backlinks so you rank better in Google. And, why do you do this? So you can get traffic. So, why not start making backlinks that not only help your SEO but drive you traffic? Sounds like two birds with one stone, or two stones with one bird... or screw the bird, I'm more of a cow person. I have a simple method I like to use, and maybe some of you have heard it, maybe some of you haven't. It's pretty simple. First of all, we're only going to build on sites that I know will (A) Give me Traffic and (B) Actually Help My SEO. There's one thing we know with social media marketing, not everyone on these sites wants to get off of the site. That means, on sites that we are really going to be generating some buzz, we need to have a MoneyB site. We're going to need to really persuade these people to click to our MoneyA site (our main website), but we need to build rapport, and confidence. What we really are building is a long term relationship. The people on your MoneyB site, will make you the most money in the long run. So, obviously, we're going to be creating articles. A lot of good, informative, content rich, salesless articles. First thing is we decide on the sites we're going to build. I prefer creating (for each keyword) A site on Ning, MerchantCircle, LiveJournal, Webs, Hubpages and Zimbio. These will be my MoneyB sites. I am not only going to really build these sites, but also create backlinks to these sites. Of course, these sites will be linked to my MoneyA site, but not just for a quick nice backlink. BTW, if you aren't using MerchantCircle, you're missing out. It has been ranking well in just about any keyword I try. I'd say spend one hour a day conversing with people on these sites. Find friends, make interesting posts. Talk. It's really not that hard, and in the end will really do more for your business than a few crap backlinks. For the next 7 hours of the day you should be building these sites up. Create new accounts at sites like these. High PR sites with blog capabilities. Spin your articles, and start backlinking to your MoneyB and your MoneyA sites. After a short while you will start to notice something, all of your sites are getting ranked, and ranked well. ------------------------------- Ok, now this is what I really would like everyone's help with. I'm building a list of truly effective backlink sites. These sites have proven to work, and take minimal time involvement. Here's my current list (feel free to add more): MerchantCircle.com Yelp.com tigweb.org Zimbio.com Wikispaces.com Blogspot.com Knol.com Google Sites MSN Spaces Wetpaint.com Wordpress.com (of course) GoArticles Quizilla.com Tripod.com Webs.com Vox.com LiveJournal.com Xanga.com Blog.com Ning.com Friendster.com EzineArticles (yeah yeah) Add Your Own -----DP mods can delete this part if they must (my sig doesnt work yet) I post to all these sites with my company fastwebstrategies.com
I would go along with this. Since Google are so cryptic about what links they favour, it is best to seek links that also bring you traffic. That way you know you are receiving a benefit - and any SEO benefits that you receive are a bonus. Yes talking with people helps - probably more for some industries than others. I am in the clinical hypnotherapy field. I think it is very important to go on lots of health related forums and networks, and get to know a lot of people. After all, peoples' health is very important, and they don't want to entrust it to some faceless charlatan. I haven't tried MechantCircle, so I will look at it now. Thanks for the post!
So, it all comes down to Article Marketing, Press Releases and Social Bookmarking. Which all of them get you nice quality backlinks, if you know what your doing... Very Nice Chris....Thanks
The best part is, you really don't need to know what you are doing. STEPS TO EFFECTIVE ARTICLE MARKETING: #1 Keyword in Title phrase #2 Keyword 3-5 times in article (only one time use anchor text) #3 anchor text describing the author #4 SPIN SPIN SPIN #5 400-600 words per article. DO IT CONSTANTLY. This is the biggest problem with most internet marketers, you can't stop. If you don't see results, DO IT MORE! Due diligence when it comes to keyword research. Make sure it's likely you can reach the top of Google.
I just don't agree. Article writing is a difficult and time consuming effort. What if your articles are poorly written, not informative, or just basically crap, which mostly are if you hired an article writing firm? Even if you get some quality articles out there, only a very small percentage of your readers will actually click to go to your website. It will require hundreds of articles for just so so traffic. You are better off adding that content value directly into your website.
Nice topic .. very rare these days ^^ I want to add Squidoo to your list , my favorite so far .. dofollow links, brings traffic even if you don't promote your lens, you can make content easily (Youtube and Flickr and RSS modules) , also there is an Amazon module (means you can make money directly from your lens !) PR 7 , estimation of 6 million unique per month .. The best !
Who said anything about not adding the content to your site? The best way for effective keyword link building is to have a blog on your site. You put the seed article there, and then you spin the article to around 30% uniqueness, and you anchor text the link back to the original article on your site. Creating backlinks is EASY. Creating really good backlinks is EASY as well. Simple. CASE STUDY. I have a client who is a lawyer. He wanted to rank for "new york medical malpractice." So what we did is create an article, and we don't mess around with articles. It only costs a little bit more to hire someone to write a good, well researched article. We place the seed article on his site, and then created only around 100+ PR4-PR8 backlinks. That specific page reached the first page of Google within a matter of days. We've done that for almost 30 keywords with him, and it has worked brilliantly. Most people assume to backlink to their main site, but really, you want to backlink from SUPER relevant information DIRECTLY to SUPER relevant information on your site. Needless to say, he's still a client of ours for nearly two years.
