Do you buy websites from other webmasters?

Hi I was wondering if you buy websites for your online business?

 

No - although I do sell them too other websites.

Sure, I've bought websites off of DP actually. Sold as well. Had fairly good success with them, too!

 

Yes, I've made quite a bit in trading websites through various forums, I made a few mistakes along the way and I try to keep myself from repeating them.

 

if its a fair deal i would buy it,
i had brough one arcade site, but dint work well for me, so very cautious with spending on developed website.

I bought one because I could get it for less than it would have cost to buy links on equivalent pages.

I buy article sites if they are on topic for an existing high traffic page from which I can link.

 

I have often thought about it but many of the sites that I have seen for sale are the ones that are made soley for displaying google ads. These often use a script to duplicate content from other sites!


Some of the "real" sites for sale seem like a good investment, but I am not sure if they are or not

I want to buy. But I don't know the value of the website.

 

There are guidelines like "10 times monthly net earnings" which are sometimes useful, but value depends on your situation. If the theme of the website matches the theme on my site I will pay more. If I can directed targeted traffic to the site it is worth more. If it is an area I am considering targeting I will pay more because it may jumpstart the process. I have even bought sites because I wanted to look at the code.

 

I buy and sell websites all the time.

If the site is something I like, I buy it.

If the site is something I do not want, I sell it.

In fact, in the buy,sell,trade forums, getting ready to put up one site for sale.

And no, I never buy any site that is turnkey or is made just for adsense.

 

I don't for one reason. If someone truly had a great, original website that was making money they would not sell it. They are usually trying to dump a website that is a dog. Of course there are exceptions...

 

Which is where you can make money, save time, and/or grab an opportunity. It is clear many serious buyers have DP set to notify them immediately after a new site is posted for sale. If it looks undevalued it will get snapped up in a moment.

It might be worth looking for threads were a site sold almost immediately and see if you can identify the characteristics that caused that.

 

Yes, I do buy websites from others and sometimes it is because of a good domain name and otherwise it is to do a quick jumpstart into business.

I do sell websites too but that's not my main business. I only do it if I know someone else has a better chance of making the website successful.

 

I am looking for it but untill now nothing for what I have in mind for a budget ($250-$300) came along. There are enough proxy and arcade sites but nothing I really like.

It seems like a good idea tho as most sites get sold at about 8-10 times the monthly earnings and I for one do believe internet will be around the next ten years or so ...so it seems to me that it's a good investment.

what about not enough time to build every site I want to build.

I have about 200 domains but only 30 or so sites
