Has anyone tried Facebook PPC and if so how does it compare to adsense?

I've tried it before and it cost me quite alot of money and didn't really work very well. I'm guessing that I probably approached it wrongly, as it's quite different from Google Adwords.

It lets you target by groups and what people are doing on Facebook, not just what people are searching for (Adwords)

I burnt about $400 worth in free coupons from them. I'll have to say, I got better conversions. (signups)

I never liked social network advertising and I don't think I ever will, unless they come up with something special ;)

I'd stay away from Facebook unless you a seasoned advertiser....it can prove to be very expensive with no ROI

Facebook generated sales for me, but at a higher CPA than Adwords.

I also think that 'visual' products work better on Facebook e.g. t-shirts.

Marketing on social bookmarking and media sites is hard to do without being pegged as a spammer. You will have to spend more time befriending others and building trust and reputation than working on your website in the first place. This takes too much time for too little results.

I agree, that's one of the reasons why I hate social network advertising. I think they suck.

Facebook has advertisement option. You could see sponsored links on right side of it. It is however, different than adsense. It does not concentrate on search phrase, instead based on group.

Experience however, based on above posting, seems not good for advertisers.

Is it really good for the serious business?

Has Twitter started accepting advertisement? If yes, it must be a news for me and others.
