The search engines counts every backlink as a positive vote for your website. In this case the votes are not always of the same quality. pages with higher reputation would count as more powerful votes than pages with lower reputation.
Is there a site or service were you can put in subject and access a list a sites to backlink to Thanks
Backlinks definately work. But there are several factors that decide how effective they are: Anchor - The actual text that links to your site Relevancy - The content on the page compared to the content on your page Authority - The 'importance' of the site that points to your site, this can be estimated by the number of incoming links, the content, and the page rank of the site... etc. Some people don't believe in page rank and some people believe that reserved TLDs such as .edu and .gov carry more weight than public TLDs. Dilution - If a site has a lot of outbound links each link will carry less weight Dofollow - some sites/blogs use rel="nofollow" in their links google doesn't count these links Thats some of the factors (in no particular order) that effect the weight of each link. Cheers
Is there a site or service that you can enter a subject and get a list of web sites to backlink to. Or is there a better way that you can recommend to create backlinks? Thanks

My POV is a little skewed, but it's because I know what works. The best thing to do is to create your own content, and add it to a blog, or high end article directory. Use anchor text. That way you are not only linking from a high PR site (or a site trusted by Google) but it's also extremely relevant to the keyword.
Backlink do work. it works from having your website on high PR sites that get exposure, and it works because it pushes you that much higher up the search rankings on search engines. So backlinks are a good thing.
actually backlinks do really works sometimes they don't so you need to watch over your links not just parked it there some in the inter web.
Yes they do but make sure to do the following: 1) Get backlinks only from sites that don't have NO FOLLOW tags on their outbound links 2) Get backlinks from sites that have Page Rank on their main page Are NO FOLLOW links necessarily bad? Well, if you're doing a quick "hit it and quit it" link building campaign, YES. However, if you're link building for RELATIONSHIPS, this pays off... BIG TIME!
Hi ash1, Can you elaborate on this? I'm really intersted on your explanation.. WHy did you say that directories are bad?
I am just getting started and after reading the post above I am a bit confused. Please someone help me understand about the back links and directory links as they pertain to page rank. Thanks ....
Hi everyone, I'm also very very curious about backlinking--particularly on how one person like me who doesn't have website and product to sell in the net will earn such big amount of money just by doing backlinking. Please help me on how it works.
Hi Ken, please explain to me further...as I have said I don't have a website and a product to sell. TY!!!
