Hi All Whilst browsing the directory section of Dp you will notice that the vast majority of posts are for this list of directories and that list of directories. We need to get this forum dedicated to answering peoples questions related to directories and providing excellent advice not providing list after list. We need a dedicated set of moderators to clean up this section. What do you think?
Typical spammer....If your not interested in reading my post then dont post your crap here..where in my post do i mention hosting....Answer I DONT
Hello... Yea i agree, we need the mods to be a bit stricter and stop the constant threads that get posted here by those whom dont know how or where to advertise there sites as this section is supposed to be for answering questions and so on but not promoting there own sites. thx m1
Leave alone sections which we obviously need, frankly we need a dedicated moderator for this section. If given a chance I would love to contribute since the directory industry has helped me a lot. ---- Hey malcolm, wassup buddy? Long time..?
Not saying we dont need a directory section. What i am saying is we dont need all the directory list posts, thats not what this section is about. So they would be better in their own section. Leaving the directory forum free to do what its meant to do and that is answer peoples concerns and provide useful information for new and experienced directory owners.
No we dont need a dedicated section for lists because they would still post in the wrong section and theres not enough lists to justify adding a new section, when i post a list as a reply upon request its often the same lists. We dont need a set of dedicated moderators for this section, one would be ample, its quiet anyway. Theres nothing wrong with lists, i like lists, they are not the bane of our lives but yeah it would be interesting if its mostly discussion in this section. @webhost.uk.net Worth reading this thread again, its funny what you happend to post
after looking at the first page of threads in this forum there where 13 posts all for a list of directories. Some people might not mind lists but do we really need so many threads, maybe they could all be merged into one big thread and anybody that has a new list can add it to the thread rather than create yet another thread for a directory list.
Thats only because some people wont search. I agree we dont need that many of the same list threads but keep in mind that those starting those lists dont search first, they dont look to see if they should (for example) announce a directory here or in solicitations and are often the same people who reply in threads with "thanks" The sticky threads already contain lists and allsorts of useful resources, its all there for them but you cant get them to look there first. Even recently ive posted in some threads to warn at least a couple of members that they need to stop posting useless replies and that they will get red repped and banned but they dont take any notice. You can point out as much as possible where things should go and they simply ignore you.
Directory lists are a form of solicitation or announcement in my opinion and could go in that category easily enough. This category definitely requires a dedicated moderator though. Probably would not take that much time right now as the lack of a good moderator here has in part caused the activity to decline.
imo people only ask for lists rather than searching because they hope they will get the most up to date list by asking. a lot of the people creating threads in incorrect sections are not being punished and that's why it's happening again and again. I dunno if we need a dedicated mod but just an active one. oh and if it's humm will the last one leaving the forum please switch the lights off
I think we don't really need another section for directory lists (and I am saying that as a directory list owner). We do need a mod to keep them in one section though. I see a lot of wrong announcements etc. everyday. Specially bad for me because I collect and post new directories announced here every month.
