I'm interested in buying a website that is making money already. I don't want a website that makes thousands of dollars a month. Maybe $5-$10/month is good enough. How much should I expect to pay?
$100 or, maybe less if its only making that I would have thought. May be a silly question, but would it not be easier to start a new one, or are you looking for something that is already bedded in?
Well thats the problem though, I'd make my own but I haven't the slightest clue on how to properly monetize it. I'm lost in that sector and that's why I feel it'd be easier to buy a cheap site that makes me some money as opposed to making a new site and walking around in the dark with it.
Sites normal sell for 8-10 months revenue and/or based on traffic received. A lot of people will try to sell on potential. Don't buy a site on potential.
I recommend you not to pay more than $100 for a site that makes only a few bucks a month. And think first how would you increase the income from the site before you buy!
Hmmm, sounds good, yeah I was only planning on spending a max of $50.00 on a site that makes 5-10/month. I don't think that's too unreasonable.
In the hosting biz, I believe the guideline is 6-9 months. I've seen some go for 12 months revenue. Never seen any mention of potential although I see it elsewhere when it comes to individual sites. I've bought out three companies over the years. 1 went for a what basically was a stipend (the wife had serious health problems and he had to get rid of it fast.) The other two starting offers were at the 6 months figure with the current client list.
*shrug* If it's going fo $5-$10, offer $30 and see if they'll take it. All they can do is say no and raise the price. Try to reach a compromise.
Just for reference, per a PM I received, he had to get rid of the hosting business quickly, not the wife. Sorry if there was confusion in what I wrote.
i believe the average is 5-10 months of the site monthly income for a small site and it can be 12-23 months for larger income sites.
You can start a blog about something you're passionate about and add adsense to it. Google has a turnkey solution for you at blogger.com and it's all free. It will take awhile to learn the ins and outs of blogging, but you don't have super high expectations, so it shouldn't be too hard to meet them. You can learn everything you need to know about blogging at problogger.com
Wow someone actually thought he had to get rid of the wife because she was sick. Wow that is unbelievable. I would say to answer the question never ever ever more than 10 months profit for a website.
Sounds good, I actually have started a blog and I'm working pretty hard to make it profitable. It's about 5 days old but hasn't made me anything yet...... Working at it though =D
Good choice. It will probably take about two weeks to get your first click if you're doing everything correctly. I'm willing to help you out if you'd like. send me a pm if you want some help. I've tutored other people with blogging and they've seen decent success fairly quickly.
I recommend you to not buy the website which has been developed by the low budget. You need to work on more in order to revamp the site and that too you should have some technical knowledge.
The website value is 5x of the average monthly earning so 5x10=$50. But i do urge you to buy a website with PR coz it more worth it.
