    Vista is an awful joke.
Hopefully Windows 7 will improve this mess.

I don't think many people "buy" Vista, they usually inherit it because they buy a new computer. With Windows 7 out, the sales for Vista will probably cease altogether.

Having said that, let me say that I think Vista is a fine product. Basically, it is XP on steroids! I have a 64 bit CPU and 64 bit Vista OS. Without a 64 bit OS your 64 bit computer is not operational to its fullest potential except when you use an application that recognizes that you have dual (or quad) CPU's.

You can tweak and customize Vista any way you want, use all of the very same tweaks that you use on XP, eliminate ALL of the annoying "features" (if you want) and it performs superbly! You need a LOT of ram, but that's cool, and if you are into audio (I am a musician), you will need a real sound card. WASAPI blows big time! Using the other CPU for audio is a nice idea, Microsoft just didn't get it right. If you want high quality recording performance you will need to install a real soundcard and monkey around setting it up to work right.

Other than that... Fantastic code, no issue from my perspective. Windows 7 is still Vista, most likely, with a few user-friendly fixes for those not into deep level tweaking operations. Much like Windows 98 was to Windows 95. Same basic code, just a lot of fixes and easier to tweak. Oh... And a new sales campaign. Forgot about that. ;)

That's fine as long as you don't have any interest in 64 bit operations. Windows XP is a 32 bit program. I loved it, always will. Times change. I have a 64 bit computer with 6 gigs of ram and I want an operating system that takes advantage of it. If I had to "buy" it, then I would. The deal is that new computers already come with it installed, so no need to buy it.

Anyone with a 32 bit CPU (single core) and less than 3 gigs of ram, I wouldn't recommend Vista. XP will do the just just fine.

Yeah unless I encounter worse problem with my XP i wont be changing to
Vista OS. cos it needs a lot of disk space.
XP works best for me. No complain at all

BBSZ put it correctly...there is no need to upgrade to Vista if one is using 32 bit computer. XP does the job pretty well for it! :)
I am though waiting for official release of Windows 7 and I will upgrade to a 64 bit new PC after I am satisfied with the stability of Windows 7 ....

    Regards,

Many bugs in Windows XP even with SP3. Vista with Sp1 runs smooth better than MAC OS .

I agree with you. Its interesting to see how old this thread is and how many people were optimistic about Vista when it was first released. I wonder how many of them still have it installed. I wish I didn't....

I am using windows Vista with all updates .Even though it may be irritating at sometimes it is behaving nicely for me. Normally you have to wait and purchase the software only after it stabilises

I'm currently using Vista and I think it's terrible. That's why I will be switching to a Mac computer very shortly :)
