    You do know this is a myth right?

    75% of all computer monitors are now LCDs (not cathode ray tubes) and most LCD monitors actually use more energy to show black pixels than white.

    They did it as part of lights off across the globe. Where every one was asked to turn off all their lights for 1 hour I think it was to conserve energy. At the same time google released an article showing that them going black does NOT help conserve energy, it actually does the opposite with modern LCD screens. They just did it to be cute.

    Too bad they would get on the 100 MPG car bandwagon and really do something useful ;)

    If fuel prices continue to rise Ill have to buy a scooter :D

    I remember this. hehe. I agree with CyberGlitch with regard to LCD screens, but there are still plenty of people/businesses using old crt monitors. Not that they would change to a dark google. I wouldn't; the shock to my eyes when I went from dark google to a bright white website is just too worrying :s
