Should I Report This

    Hi,
A while back, I read on another thread that someone clicked ads multiple times on someone's site, and the site owner contacted Google telling them that they were aware of this and that they had a third party tool (Adlogger). They could then use evidence stored in Adlogger to fight a ban or whatever.

Now, I think I'm in a similar situation.

I received two emails on the 29th:

That's a total of 5 ads within a space of 14 minutes - is that risky? Should I report to google?

Let me know of any similar experiences you've all had too :)

    Thanks guys!

Isnt that a total of 3 ads in 14mins? Anyway personally I dont think its anything to worry about.

Also Im completely not sure on this one but someone told me that AdLogger counts a mouseOver as a click??? Dunno if its true but just thought you should know.

I dont even get nervous until the clicks go over 6 or 7.. then i look at the amount of time between clicks - if they were a minute or so apart, like they clicked, didnt like the destination page, came back, and clicked another ad, then i dont worry.. if it's like click, click, click, 3 seconds apart, then that's a problem..

Great formula! Hmm, I wonder if i could create a plugin for AdLogger. One that's slightly better than the one now.

One of my sites get an average of 2K clicks a day. Can you imagine if I spent all my time looking through my click logs? Lordy!

Yes. I've had to tell people this over and over: Adlogger DOES NOT ACCURATELY count your clicks, it GUESSES at the number based on user behavior -- i.e. where the mouse lands. If the mouse lands over an ad long enough, Adlogger records that as a click. But how many times have YOU put a mouse over an ad and didn't click anything?

it also treats referral buttons & links the same as ads.. so you might get an alert about multiple clicks, but they could all be mousovers, or actual clicks on a firefox button - you can click on those endlessly and google wont care..

Adlogger is great, but you cant rely on it for anything.

I also think this is normal. Just keep the logs in case bans your accounr or something.

    Good luck.

not so much fake clicks, sorry poor choice of words, what I meant was "multiple clicks from a single party" however it was a bit too long to type!

The problem was it started reporting my IP to me as doing to also. I reported it to Google and the clicks did not match my google stats anyway but their response was

1 - We dont have matching data but thanks
2 - We will double check when we do our audits

So I just got rid of it

Those using Adlogger should definitely be aware that it is NOT the cure-all for your Adsense troubles. Using it doesn't automatically shield you from invalid clicks or other problems. But in their defense, it is free, and you do get what you paid for. Just don't expect it to perform miracles for you, because it won't, and can't.
